The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, was on Tuesday, engaged major Stakeholders in Igbogbo Kingdom, to educate and charged them on the advocacy against rape and other social crime in his domain.

The meeting which was held at the Adeboruwa Palace Igbogbo, had in attendance, the Palace Chiefs, Baales, Market Leaders, CDC Reps., Artisans, Youth Reps., Muslim and Christian Leaders, amongst others.

While addressing the Stakeholders, Oba Kasali said Parents must wake up from their slumber to speak and take action against rape. The Monarch said the dastardly act had reached an alarming level in our society, which requires the efforts of all to stem, while calling for a stiffer penalty for any person that engages in sexual abuse by the Government.

Reference to the recent rape case in Igbogbo, Oba Kasali said he was particularly touched by the pathetic case of two girls, whose the information got to him while in America recently.

He said: “The incident was worrisome and we don’t have to keep quiet. When I heard about this case, I felt sad, but I thank God that the matter is rightly before the Nigerian Police for thorough investigation."

The King therefore advised parents or guardians to take proper care of their female children and take their education as priority. He said parents should not because of their religious activities not take good care of their children, while religious leaders should also take the advocacy down to their followers.

Earlier, the Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom, Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, spoke extensively against the dastardly act that has taken different dimension, urging Parents to rise up and curb the practice of such wicked acts.

Chief Odofin thanked the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo for his initiative to sensitize the people on the unnecessary sexual harassment to womenfolk in his domain.
