It was another moment of joy on Saturday, May 25, 2019, for the elderly, widows, needy and vulnerable people in Ikorodu Division, when Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR, representing Ikorodu federal constituency, repeated his kind gesture, by doling out food items, at his constituency Office, Igbogbo, Lagos State. Omirin Opeyemi, a student of Zumratul Islamiyyah Grammar School (Junior), Igbogbo, on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the Council Secretariat of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, emerged the winner of this year's Spelling Bee Competition in the LCDA.   Opeyemi, a JSS 3 student competed with other contestants from various Schools in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, while Solomon Esther of Lagos State Girls Model College Agunfoye and Omosanya Noimot of Lagos State Civil Service Model College Igbogbo, took the second and third positions respectively.   In the Primary School Category, the overall winner goes to Isreal Ubong Daniel of L.G Primary School, Oreta, while Adebeshin Yetunde of A.U.D Primary School, Igbogbo and Asare Kehinde of Anglican Primary School, Offin went took the 2nd and 3rd Positions. The programme which was organized in commemoration of the 2019 Children's Day celebration saw the winners receiving cash prizes and the first position being assured of "A Day Chairman".  

Senator Kinsley Adeseye Ogunlewe, a former Minister of Works and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has dumped the Party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He made this declaration on Wednesday, at the APC Caucus meeting, 'The Mandate Movement' (TMM), of Ikorodu Division, held at Chief Adenrele Olowu's house, Igbogbo, Lagos State.   Ogunlewe was elected a Senator on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 1999, representing Lagos East constituency, before he defected to the PDP, where he has remained a key figure ever since before joining APC. While in PDP, he was appointed Minister of Works by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, lasting in office from July 2003 to March 2006.   He has however joined his son, Moyosore in moving from the PDP to the APC. Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat, the father of the Deputy Governor-elect of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat is dead. The monarch died on the evening of Sunday, May 12, 2019, and the funeral prayer was said to hold on Monday, May 13, 2019, at his Yaya Abatan Ogba residence in Lagos. While announcing the death of the monarch on Facebook, the incoming Deputy-Governor of Lagos state, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat thanked his father for giving him gift of courage and believing in his children. The father of the deputy governor-elect was the Olu of Afowowa Sogade in Ogun State. The deceased was a member of Lagos State assembly and Commissioner for Transportation between 1979 and 1983. He was also the former National Vice Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) before it metamorphosed into Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and now APC. As the holy month of Ramadan progresses, an erudite legislator and majority leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade, has again held another historic annual Ramadan lecture in Ikorodu.
