OMIRIN OPEYEMI OF Z.I.G.S WINS YEAR 2019 SPELLING BEE COMPETITION IN IGBOGBO/BAYEKU LCDA. | Shakiru Seidu. "My intention is to encourage academic excellence," Council Boss, Olusesan Daini reveals.
Omirin Opeyemi, a student of Zumratul Islamiyyah Grammar School (Junior), Igbogbo, on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the Council Secretariat of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, emerged the winner of this year's Spelling Bee Competition in the LCDA.
Opeyemi, a JSS 3 student competed with other contestants from various Schools in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, while Solomon Esther of Lagos State Girls Model College Agunfoye and Omosanya Noimot of Lagos State Civil Service Model College Igbogbo, took the second and third positions respectively.
In the Primary School Category, the overall winner goes to Isreal Ubong Daniel of L.G Primary School, Oreta, while Adebeshin Yetunde of A.U.D Primary School, Igbogbo and Asare Kehinde of Anglican Primary School, Offin went took the 2nd and 3rd Positions. The programme which was organized in commemoration of the 2019 Children's Day celebration saw the winners receiving cash prizes and the first position being assured of "A Day Chairman".
While speaking with Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Community Magazine, the Council Boss, Comrade Olusesan Daini, said the competition was aimed at developing the innate skills of pupils and students of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
He also agrees that the competition had been able to fulfill the ultimate goal of creating healthy rivalry amongst students as well as drawing out their intellectual capabilities.
“The idea of spelling competition in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA is to encourage academic excellence, this was with a view to preparing the pupils/students for future endeavours and igniting the spirit of competition among them." Daini revealed.
While expressing his feelings, the winner of this year's competition, Omirin Opeyemi said to MegaXpression Community Magazine that he is happy for taking the first position. He commended the Council Chairman and his management team for introducing the competition.
“I am very happy and excited, I always read my dictionary and I thank God that I won the first position today. I won with the help of my parents and teachers," Opeyemi said.
