SENATOR OGUNLEWE DENIES ENDORSING GBOLAHAN OGUNLEYE FOR SECOND TERM.

Former Minister and GAC member, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, has denied reports claiming he endorsed Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo for a second term bid to represent Ikorodu Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

In a rejoinder issued on Thursday, Senator Ogunlewe described the publication circulating online as false and misleading, clarifying that Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye only paid him a courtesy and consultative visit regarding his political ambition.

The elder statesman stressed that no individual leader has the constitutional authority to impose or endorse any aspirant, noting that candidates can only emerge through consensus or party primaries in line with democratic principles and the Electoral Act.

According to him, aspirants seeking elective positions should return to the grassroots, engage party members across all wards, and allow the people to decide.

The statement also argued that genuine performance and impactful representation naturally attract public support without the need for “fabricated endorsements or media propaganda.”

Senator Ogunlewe therefore urged party faithful and members of the public to disregard the report, insisting that the publication does not reflect his position.
