In another notable demonstration of responsive and compassionate leadership, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has extended support to thousands of residents across the district through the distribution of food packs to over 10,000 households ahead of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The large-scale food distribution exercise witnessed massive turnout across designated centres in Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Kosofe, and Somolu Local Goverments, where beneficiaries received essential food items including bags of rice and garri to support their festive celebrations.Senator Mikhail Adetokunbo Abiru FCA
The intervention comes at a time many families continue to face economic challenges and increasing food costs, making the initiative a significant relief for numerous households across Lagos East Senatorial District.
Represented by his media aide, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, during the distribution exercise at the Ikorodu Constituency Office, Senator Abiru stated that the programme reflects his continued dedication to the welfare, wellbeing, and socio-economic support of constituents throughout the district.
According to the Senator, the initiative was conceived as part of efforts to continuously identify with the people and provide practical assistance, especially during periods of economic strain affecting many homes and businesses.
He explained that Eid-el-Kabir remains a season that promotes sacrifice, compassion, generosity, love, and unity, stressing the need for individuals and leaders alike to extend support and kindness to those around them.
Senator Abiru further noted that the food support programme forms part of his broader social intervention initiatives targeted at cushioning the effects of economic hardship on vulnerable residents while improving living conditions across the senatorial district.
He also expressed confidence that such interventions would complement ongoing economic recovery efforts of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, alongside developmental initiatives of the Lagos State Government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“We all have a collective responsibility to stand by our people during difficult times. While governments at different levels continue to implement policies aimed at economic recovery and stability, representatives of the people must also contribute meaningfully through initiatives that directly impact lives and strengthen communities,” he stated.
Beyond the household food distribution programme, Senator Abiru also distributed rams and cows to Imams, political leaders, community stakeholders, party faithful, and other deserving groups across Lagos East to further support the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The Senator equally extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across Lagos East and Nigeria, urging them to continue embracing the enduring values of peace, sacrifice, tolerance, unity, and mutual support associated with Eid-el-Kabir.
As residents across the district prepare for the Sallah celebration, many beneficiaries and stakeholders have continued to commend Senator Abiru’s thoughtful intervention, describing it as another reflection of compassionate leadership and people-focused representation during challenging economic times.
