COVID-19: IKORODU MONARCH APPLAUDS ORIWU CLUB'S SOLIDARITY, AS THE CLUB DISTRIBUTES RELIEF MATERIALS TO VULNERABLE. It's aimed to lessen the burden of those incapacitated by the lockdown order, the Club's President, Professor Adebayo Ninalowo reveals.

HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu and Paramount Ruler of Ikorodu Division, has applauded the gesture of Oriwu Club Ikorodu, for donating relief materials to the less privileged in Ikorodu, as part of efforts to cushion the effects of the lockdown over the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

For distributing relief items to the underprivileged in Ikorodu, the Monarch said the gesture will ameliorate the difficulties forced on the globe by the COVID-19, saying the development has affected the people without social advantage. Oba Shotobi made the statement during the presentation of some relief materials brought to the Palace by Oriwu Club for distribution.

According to the Monarch, "the number one Club in Ikorodu, I mean Oriwu Club, is responsible for what you are seeing today and I'm happy about it. They are doing this to support the efforts of the Lagos State government on tracking the issue of this pandemic. I really appreciate the Club's President, his executives and other members of the Club. They have really done well and I believe they are still going to do more."

Also, in an exclusive interview with the MegaXpression Community News, the President of the Club, Professor Adebayo Ninalowo, said the gesture was to lessen the burden of those incapacitated by the lockdown order of the government as well as support efforts in the distribution of relief materials to residents of Ikorodu.

While acknowledging the efforts of the State Government on the distribution of thousands of stimulus packages to Lagosians since the inception of the lockdown order, Prof. Ninalowo stated that it was important for other Clubs, organisations and religious bodies to complement the efforts of the State Government.

In his words, “Today, we have reached out to over 1,000 recipients at the Club's Secretariat, along Shagamu road Ikorodu. The reality is that government cannot do it alone and that’s why we also joined several corporate organisations and individuals that had done similar things and l believe several others would still do likewise”.

APC East Senatorial Vice Chairman, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Founder, Oriwu Sun Newspaper, Chief Monsor Olowosago, Publicity Director of Oriwu Club, Mr Gbolahan Dickson, amidst other members of Oriwu Club of Ikorodu were equally present at the Palace.
