CULT CLASHES: OBA KASALI HOLDS TALK WITH LOCAL SECURITY OPERATIVES ON FORMIDABLE SECURITY ALERTNESS IN IGBOGBO. ...Enjoins parents to warn their children against cultism.
His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, has condemned the resurgence of killings by cult groups in Igbogbo and called for increased community and law enforcement action against its escalation.
Responding to reports of the resurgence of cultism leading to loss of lives in Oreta, Offin, and Igbogbo, the Monarch charges the local security operatives and other law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to end the menace before it further escalates.
The Monarch urged quick and effective intervention by the CDAs, religious and community leaders in support of law enforcement efforts, in all such areas bedeviled by cultist attacks. He passionately appealed for peace in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and decries the on-going culture of killings between 'Eye and Aiye' that has fuelled a number of attacks and reprisal attacks.
The Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom, High Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, said the battle to stop the cult killings should not be left alone for the traditional institution. He enjoined the political office holders to create employment opportunities for them, rather than adopting the 'use and dump' pattern.
Chief Yaya Agoro, Apena of Igbogbo, Chief Jelili Oduntan, Balogun of Igbogbo, Baales from Oreta, Selewu, Eregidan-Oreyo, and Igbe Laara were in attendance.
Others are CSO Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Mr Dare Igbasan, popularly called Agali, Mr Oluwatobiloba Oluwafemi of Oranmiyan, Prince Otebola Oyerinde of OPC, Mr Olumide Oyesasayo of Onyabo, Mr Shotomiwa Sesan of Agbekoya, Mrs Adedapo Yetunde of Peace Corp Nigeria, Mr Olugbenga Adibayi of VGN amongst others.

While I wish to commend his royal Highness for his efforts at combatting these ills in our community, suffice to state that we are still attending to these issues with kid gloves.
ReplyDeleteIt is rather unfortunate that we keep hammering on this issue of cultism as if the perpetrators are ghosts.
Most of these persons are known all round our communities as they flaunt and fly their leanings with so much gusto in a mode and in a style like they are 'untouchables'.
In as long as this trend goes on, I am sorry we would just keep having meetings upon meetings without results.
I am sure we are well aware of the Sagamu experience where the community with the backing of the Oba were moving into houses of these so called 'ghosts' and picking them up one by one.
Every other 'ghost' that was successful not to have been fished out ran away.
If this trouble is getting too much why not let us adopt this approach.
Just my honest view.
Kudos again to all.
Long live Igbogbo community.
