The four walls of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Secretariat was full to capacity on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, when the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu has commissioned the Administrative Complex of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, congratulated the Chairman, Builder. Olusesan Mayokun Daini, management team, Staff and legislative Arm of the Council, for the courage and determination in initiating and implementing a laudable ultral modern edifice.
In his keynote address, Chairman Daini thanked the executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, his Vice, Dr. Femi Hamzat, State Cabinet, party leaders and the entire people of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, for making the day a reality, MegaXpression Media reports.
"It might interest you all to know that the first structures on this site were an office and a dispensary of the then Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council which was created in 1955 by Pa Chief Obafemi Awolowo as the premier of Western Region. On assumption of office in 2017, the first request by members of staff at an interactive session, was for us to bequeath a befitting and conducive office building to efficient service delivery.
"This request was also in tandem with our electral promise to the people and we are grateful to God that we could deliver an administrative complex made up of 26-roon offices, conference room, multipurpose hall and marriage registry, among state of the art facilities.
"The completion of the edifice, in record time, marks a significant milestone in the life of our Administration and alluded to the well established fact that local Council Development Areas in Lagos State are well prepared to take off as full fledged and statutory local Government Areas as soon as the necessary constitutional amendments/provisions are affected.
"This building being commissioned today is the result of an effort that has lasted 2years for which a lot of people played critical roles leading to the successfully completion of the project. I would therefore, like to use this opportunity to express the profound gratitude of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCAD to the numerous contributors to the success we are celebrating today," Daini explained.
"On behalf of the people of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and by extension Ikorodu Division, I also commend Mr Governor and his team for the hard and efforts directed at changing the trajectory of development in Ikorodu division and across Lagos State. We are grateful for the good job being done on the Igbogbo Bola Ahmed Tinubu Igbe Road and we are appealing for speedy completion and awarding of the second phase of the project to achieve its optimal socio-economic impacts. We thank you for the ongoing reconstruction of Itamaga-Ijede road, which covers a large portion of our LCDA.
"The intervention on upgrading the standard of Igbogbo stadium to a full-fledge sports arena as recommended during the working visit by the Lagos State Sports Commission team is worthy of note. We are, however, appealing for the reward of contract and immediate commencement of work, as stadium will help in no small measure in curbing security challenge in the LCDA as well as promote discovering of sports talents.
"Mr Governor has official commission this Administrative complex today, we humbly seek intervention in the reconstruction of Obafemi Awolowo way to Bayeku. This important link to the proposed Fourth Mainland Bridge and of significant along the road that cuts through over 30 different communities are the council Secretariat, Kaniyi- Owode Market, Mopol 63 Squadron Base, Lagos State HOMs Phrase 1 and 2, Federal Housing Estate, Lagos State Co-operative Housing Scheme, Bayeku Ferry Jetty, etc.
"With the daily influx of people into the LCDA and thus increasing its population, the current capacity of Ikorodu General Hospital and Primary Health Centres with the LCDA are adequate to cater for.the secondary medical needs of our people. Like the Oliver Twist that we are, we are using this occasion to also appeal to Mr Governor to consider the establishment of mini General in Igbogbo to cater for the secondary medical needs of the pro that the overstretched Ikorodu General Hospital and the Primary Health Centres in the LCDA cannot adequately serve," the Chairman requested.

Addressing the mamorth crowd, Governor Sanwo-Olu said, "I must confess that when I saw the picture at first, I asked the chairman if he had made mistake, because the picture looks like a building in Victoria Island or in Ikeja but he said to me that it's in Igbogbo because Igbogbo deserves a very best".
He further stated that the completion of this project is a prove that with the right attitude to governance and with a desire sense of purpose, we can touch the lives of our people at the grassroot level and give them a sense of belonging. "I am confidence that this elegant edifice will boost the productivity of staff and makes them more dedicated to their duties which in turn will lead to an improved service delivery, a key goal of administration," the Governor said.
"I also commended the council workers for their patience, tenacity and cooperation while this project was under construction. It is your Secretariat and I know that it will become a rallying point for all workers and residents of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Sanwo-Olu added.
The Governor equally urged the staff to justify the investment imposed on the edifice by being more dedicated to duty, noting that they have been provided with a conducive working environment and no excuse to continue giving the very best.
"As a public and civil servants, we are in government to serve our people and I hope this new workplace will encourage our people to work well, to think and to collaborate seamlessly by producing the very best for our citizens," Sanwo-Olu insisted.
"I know it will challenge all other chairmen to meet or surpass this level of efficiency and delivery. I am also sure that as you have seen the quality of the leadership Daini who has been able to identify a competent contractor, it shows that people can indeed do great things when they are given the chance.
"Lagos State government will continue to play its part in delivering the dividend of democracy to the people at the grassroots and will enjoin harmonious working relationship with all of our council chairmen as we strengthen our partnership, we will ensure the completion of the ongoing infrastructure and development projects in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
"Daini had shown a great deal of commitment in the completion of this edifice. This makes it the gladdens my heart and it takes commitment of people to a socialized good governance in our society. I will likewise use this opportunity to inform you all that the government is working on Oba Sekumade road, which is been done by Arab contractor and the contractor also assured me that you will see even tremendous improvement within the next two to four weeks on that road.
"I know and am aware that the Ijede Itamaga phase one road will be handing over to you in the month of May, that six kilometers road is about being completed but we are not leaving you to that, we will ensure that we would start the phase two immediately.
"I have also seen the state of Obafemi Awolowo/ Bayeku road, I will arrange on how we need to award the road as soon as possible. We have also called on HITECH contractor to speed up Igbogbo/ Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Igbe road, so that we can give our citizen a desire relieve that is required. I am equally giving a commitment that the compensation that is due on that road would be paid within the next thirty to sixty days," Sanwo-Olu explained.
The Governor also assured that the request for Igbogbo mini stadium will be done and will ensured be of awarding the project before the end of year 2021, MegaXpression gathered.
"Likewise, the jetty at Bayeku and Ibeshe will be completed, the housing estate at Ibeshe will also be completed before the end of this year. The rice mill at Imota will also be ready for commissioning at the middle of this year.
"Finally, the Fourth mainland bridge that will take effect from Badore to Ajah axis will be landing at the end of Bayeku, beyond Bayeku and Ayetoro and then move to Igbe and Igbogbo before it finally get to Lagos Ibadan express road are working tremendously to commence the road and bridge before the end of this year," Governor Sanwo-Olu revealed.
In his remark, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom HRM.Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali appreciated the Executive Governor of Lagos State Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu for his tremendous work in Igbogbo and Ikorodu Division as a whole. "I want to equally thank each and everyone of us in this domain for our support and comportment over the years and I want to wish Mr Governor more success recording projects, Oba Kasali prayed.
In his eloquent remarks, the member of Governor Advisory Council, GAC, Asijawu Olorunfunmi Basorun congratulated Builder Olusesan Daini for not betraying his profession. "Don't look back, continue to show deligent, commitment and determination to the people of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Basorun urged.
Adding to the voice of Chairman Daini, Asiwaju Basorun appealled to the Governor on upgrading of the standard of Igbogbo Stadium and also the compensation of the demolished structures on Igbogbo/Igbe road.
