The Ijebu Obas Forum in Lagos State, has called on all Nigerians to support the former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the 2023 presidential election, noting that Tinubu is bold, courageous to lead, strengthening the bond between ethnics, tribes, in piloting the affairs of Nigeria. This was disclosed during their Royal meeting at the Palace of Adeboruwa in Igbogbo, Lagos, on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

The Monarchs equally used the avenue to celebrate the 69th birthday of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in style, with the presence of the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Rep. Wale Raji of Epe federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson of Ikorodu federal Constituency, who took permission, Lagos Majority Leader, Hon. S.O.B. Agunbiade, Hon. Nurudeen Sholaja-Saka, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, Hon. Desmond Elliot, the fuji Star, King Wasiu Ayinde K1, Alhaji Shakiru Seriki Bamu, Dr. Tola Kasali, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, Builder Olusesan Daini of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, amongst others in attendance.

According to the Chairman of the Forum, HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom and Vice Chairman, Lagos Council of Obas and Chiefs, on behalf of other Ijebu Obas in Lagos State, said at a time like this in the life of a Nation, we need a statesman, bold, courageous, visionary leader and a bridge builder across ethnic groups and tribes to pilot the affairs of the nation. 

"The core manifesto now should be about building a strong economy and creation of a just society, equitable access to our commonwealth and development of enabling infrastructures for businesses to strive and for the people to find opportunities for self fulfillment.

"In the deliberations of our Forum and having considered the Nigeria events and activities as they unfold, we have decided to come into the open to urge the emeritus Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to contest for the presidency in 2023.

"Our decision is taken based on factors we considered that will help build a strong national economy, equity, justice, and a nation of opportunities for all with corresponding enabling infrastructures as pre-conditions for peace and security in Nigeria. We have singles out Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a time this as a primus inter pares among other contenders, since there will be only one person as the best man for the job," Oba Shotobi explained.

"Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a strategic thinker, an expectational manager of resources, a quintessential and visionary leader. He is a detribalised Nigeria. By the grace of the Almighty Allah, hard work, consistency and forthrightness, Asiwaju has built a nexus of international relationship and goodwill that would become helpful in the course of his service to the nation as a president.

"We, the Ijebu Obas Forum in Lagos State wish to use the occasion of Asiwaju's 69th birthday to make a Clarion call to him to sacrifice all that it would cost him to contest for the presidency in 2023, to serve our fatherland. We know he has the zeal, the capacity, the robust intellect and intelligence coupled with his patriotism and pedigree to do Nigeria proud," the Forum's Chairman, Oba Shotobi added.

In his eloquent remarks, the Honourable Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, appreciated the gesture of the Royal Fathers, commending them for royal strength and act of good Fathers.

"Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had played a very vital role in all ramifications in the APC of today, so having our Royal Fathers canvassing for him is a sign of him been the rightful choice," Obasa said.

"We will always remember our Royal Fathers for this gesture, because even before we started canvassing, the Monarchs are in full support of Asiwaju already. So it is widely agreed that our Obas and other people from the States had rightly said that there is no other person in Nigeria that fit in the position of been the president of this country right now expect our father, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu," the Speaker added.
