BOLOWOTAN DISCLOSES REASONS BEHIND OLOWOORIBI U-17 CUP IN IKORODU. ...Says it's aimed at ensuring young players are giving opportunity to showcase their skills.

The sponsor of the Gafaar Bolowotan Gold Cup, Prince Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan has disclosed why he in conjunction with the Ikorodu Divisional Football Association on Olowooribi Football Cup in honour of the Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu, Sheik Seifudeen Ademoritan Olowooribi. 

Bolowotan who is also the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission revealed that the age grade competition was added to ensure that young players are given an opportunity to showcase their skills and win laurels. He said further that the Competition was one of the programs being embarked on to get young stars and nurture them into becoming superstars who would make not just Ikorodu proud but be a pride of Lagos and Nigeria at large. 

Toyin Gafaar also reiterated that all the participants at the completion were all school children while some of them are fresh secondary school leavers. He promised to ensure that the starlets are encouraged to combine education with their professional footballing career. 

He also noted that the choice of naming the competition after the Chief Imam was to honour Sheik Olowooribi for his support and efforts in pushing for peace amongst everyone living in Ikorodu. 

The Olowooribi U-17 competition was held alongside the Bolowotan Gold Cup which is in its 12th year.
