5TH CORONATION ANNIVERSARY: OBA SHOTOBI ESTABLISHES INTEREST-FREE LOAN SCHEME FOR TRADERS, ARTISANS IN IKORODU. ...Says he's hale, hearty and indeed very much alive with sound mind.

Traders and Artisans in Ikorodu who desire affordable and convenient funding to boost their respective businesses, can now do so. This is because HRM Oba (Engr) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu has offered zero-interest rate on loans for small and medium scale businesses.

The Monarch who does this in commemoration of his 5th year anniversary as the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, appreciated and gave glory to Almighty Allah who has made his reign very peaceful, progressive and brought tremendous positive developments to Ikorodu, as well as the entire Ikorodu Division.

According to his royal speech, the Monarch said, "a large amount of money has been deposited with a Commercial Bank  here in Ikorodu, and a special independent Committee comprising of some eminent personalities has been put in place to administer the fund. I hope that the interest free loan scheme would be of great assistance to our people.

"It is important to place on record that the fund to be released to the already selected beneficiaries is a revolving interest free loan and not any form of gift, therefore, must be used effectively to support and boost their businesses.

"It is of paramount importance to me, to appreciate and give glory to Almighty Allah that has made my reign as Ayangbure of Ikorodu to be very peaceful, progressive and brought tremendous positive developments to Ikorodu kingdom, her people and the residents, as well as the entire Ikorodu division.

"I am indeed very grateful to all the good people both  at the governmental level, all my chiefs, friends and associates both home and in the diaspora that has contributed one way or the other to make my reign to have achieved so much within a short space of five years. God bless you all, as I look forward to a better and more support as we journey forward," Oba Shotobi said. 

Concerning his health, the King thanked the Almighty Allah for His Mercy and some selected individuals who stood by him, stating that he is hale, healthy and indeed very much alive with sound mind.

"I must express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to our amiable Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamaz,  for their massive support to me during the period of my hospitalization. 

"I equally thank the State Honourable Commissioner for Health, all the Doctors, paramedical staffs and other auxiliary workers of the hospital that attended to me in a very special way when I was hospitalized. Also, my wife, children, relations, council of traditional and Honorary Chiefs of Ikorodu kingdom, Ayangbure Committee of friends, Lasunwon and Rademo Royal families, Palace staffs and other workers as well as friends and associates from home and all over the world," the Monarch added.

Oba Shotobi also said, "it is most important for us all to adhere to the policy and the directive of the State government and the World Health Organization concerning the world pandemic issue by using nose mask, alcoholic based hand sanitizer and ensuring social distancing when the mosques and churches are being opened so that we won't go to the second episode of the pandemic."

While speaking with Otunba (Sir) Ayodele Elesho, the Former Commissioner for Information, Lagos State and the Agba-Akin of Ikorodu kingdom, he stated that the free loan scheme is just a taste of water and to see how people react and what they would do about the loan. 

"We are starting with 140 beneficiaries selected through their respective associations and giving each person 25,000 naira to start with and as soon as they start responding positively, it will be upgraded. Also, the initiative will enhance the people that are in financial difficulties, so let such people take up to 25,000 naira to start to improve and get positive result. 

"As regard the lockdown, as a strong believer, I agree that the government should open worship centres because we have been locked down for about four months. I believed that if the worship centre is opened, there would be fellowship to cry onto God to wipe away the pandemic and virus in our land," Elesho added.

In the same vein, Alhaja Toafeekat Abiodun Allison, the Iya Oloja of Ayangbure market Ikorodu and Iya Oloja General, Ikorodu Division, said the market traders have been receiving loans from different banks but this is the first time from the Monarch. 

"We are happy for this great assistance, indeed, we have never come across this gesture from royal father before, so the money is going to help alot because we knew where it comes from," she said. 

In a brief response to MegaXpression Community News, the Majority Leader Lagos State House of Assembly and Opomulero of Ikorodu kingdom, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, said HRM Oba Adewale Shotobi is a God's chosen king for Ikorodu kingdom, noting that the Monarch takes the development of Ikorodu very important with the love of citizens, indigenes and non indigenes in his heart. 

"Oba Shotobi has been able to foster peace and unity among his subject irrespective of tribe or where they come from. He has also be able to unite the Christians with the Muslims to the extend that Ikorodu had been very peaceful and tolerant as far as religion is concerned. The traditional are also playing their parts which is an evidence of competence," Agunbiade said.
