IGBOGBO GLOWS WITH GLITZ, GLAMOUR AS 35TH IGBOGBO DAY CELEBRATION ENDS IN STYLE. | Shakiru Seidu.

It was all glitz and glamour in Igbogbo on Saturday, November 26, 2023, when the Community celebrated its 35th Igbogbo Day festival, themed Ogo S'ogo. The venue, Igbogbo Sports Stadium was filled to capacity with Monarchs, high profile personalities and residents of the community, MegaXpression News reports.

Also, iCARE Foundation of Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson MHR, the DoingGood Ambassadors, Clubs and Associations had enough space to seat at the venue, while guests were also comfortably accommodated. Music was blaring from within the canopies leading to a cacophony of sounds, while the fuji star, King Dr. Saheed Osupa entertained the audience with his lovely music.

The Chairman, Igbogbo Development Association, IDEA, Chief (Dr.) Omotunde Ogunlaja, in his remarks saluted the Kabiyesi, HRM Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, and the founding fathers of Igbogbo Day celebration. He thanked the Kabiyesi for the privilege giving him and other members of IDEA to serve Igbogbo Community, urging for unity and peaceful coexistence among all.

Addressing eloquently, the Chairman of the Occasion, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who was accompanied by some House of Assembly Member, led by Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun AMA, congratulated the King, Sons and Daughters of Igbogbo Kingdom, noting that Oba Kasali is a royal colossus who has remained consistently consistent in the progress and development of Igbogbo Kingdom. 

He stated that the annual lgbogbo Day celebration is a rallying point for all Igbogbo indigenes, home and abroad, to pay homage to Adeboruwa and collectively share thoughts on how to take Igbogboland to the next level of social and infrastructural development. 

Obasa therefore charged the people of Igbogbo Community to give love and unity a priority, in ensuring progress in Igbogbo Kingdom. "Igbogbo is one of the Communities that is very dear to Lagos, so the people must ensure that the love and unity is maintained," he opined.

Earlier, the Chief Host and Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Daini, congratulated the Igbogbo Monarch, IDEA and members of the Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, for the successful celebration. He noted that the Igbogbo Day festival had become a global tourist attraction in showcasing the cooperation and collaborative tendencies of the rich Yoruba culture, saying it has become a unifying traditional festival.

Daini promised his administration’s support for the festival to sustain and promote culture and tourism in the Kingdom. “Our administration will continue to support this great festival as we are desirous of sustaining and promoting culture, tourism and the lessons of the positive development that would be engendered through our collective efforts. 

Shortly after, the Commissioner for Agric,  Lagos State, Ms Bisola Olusanya, High Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, Odofin of Igbogbo, among others, equally expressed enthusiasms over the successful celebration of this year’s festival. Bisola Olusanya congratulated Igbogbo monarch on his 7th Coronation, assuring the community of her support at all time.

In his royal remarks, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, appreciated all and stated that he was impressed by this year’s Igbogbo Day. He thanked the people at the helm of affairs for putting Igbogbo Community in the scheme of development. “We shall come back next year to give thanks for seeing another year, and continue to witness peace, progress and more development across Ikorodu Division,” the Monarch prayed.
