As part of his efforts to contribute to the growth of education in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, the Council Chairman, Builder Olusesan Daini, has reconstructed a dilapidated block of five classrooms with eight separate toilets at Methodist Primary School, Igbogbo, Lagos, noting that the project was done in line with his campaign promises.
Speaking during the commissioning, the Council Chairman, explained that the notice of the dilapidated classrooms was known to him when he came for an official commissioning of a block of two classrooms renovated by Ward C1 Councillor, Hon. Basirat Banjoko last year.
Daini pointed out that he saw the need to reconstruct the classrooms, adding that it would ease overcrowding of pupils and assist in providing a better learning experience. He reiterated his commitment to delivering on the promises made during the electioneering campaign, stating that the project is just one example of the LCDA’s ongoing efforts to provide a conducive learning environment for the pupils in the school.
The Chairman applauded Rep Babajimi Adegoke Benson MHR, for a Storey building and ICT center facilitated to the school, and said his administration will replicate what it did to Methodist Primary School to Anglican Primary School Offin, Salvation Army Primary School Agunfoye, while the 41years request of Oluodo primary school would be commissioned in few weeks.
On health sector, Daini said there would be two new additional health centers, bringing the total to nine. He said he inherited six health centers and has added three more, in expanding healthcare service for the community.
In his remarks, the former Commissioner for Agriculture and owner of Kith and Kin International Schools, Ashipa Kaoli Olusanya, applauded the administration of Olusesan Daini, adding that Daini has done extremely well to improve the standard of education in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
He charged the parents of their vital role in nurturing and guiding their children, stating that the values and behaviors children exhibited are often influenced by what they observe at home. Therefore, he urged mothers to take responsibility for creating a positive and nurturing environment within their households.
Also, Dr. Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, a Permanent Board Member of SUBEB and Special Adviser to Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru FCA, raised a global concern regarding the alarming number of out-of-school children.
"In 2021 alone, there were over 13 million students out of school, and that number is projected to increase to nearly 30 million in 2022. This is a matter of great concern. The importance of mobilizing efforts to enroll and retain these children in schools. This would require the provision of necessary infrastructure, such as classrooms with toilets, to accommodate the influx of students," Ibikunle opined while commended Daini for his contribution in providing the essential structures for these children to learn.
Meanwhile, Aremo Adesegun Ogunlewe, former Head of Service Lagos State, equally expressed joy and satisfaction over the performance of the Chairman on education sector, while requesting the Chairman to reconstruct the remaining dilapidated structure in Methodist Primary School Igbogbo, before he left office in 2025.
In his eloquent address, Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro AMA, Member Lagos State House of Assembly, and Chairman House Committee on Public- Private Partnership, representing Ikorodu Constituency II, commended Chairman Daini for his exceptional leadership in piloting the affairs of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
He said the newly reconstructed building reflect a strong commitment to enhancing the educational experience of the pupils and providing them with a safe and hygienic environment.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, also commended Daini for his gesture. Adeboruwa who was ably represented by some of the Palace Chiefs, headed by the Iyalode of Igbogbo Kingdom, Chief Mrs. Karimat Ojikutu, expressed appreciation for the outstanding work done by the Council Chairman in various areas within the Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
Mrs Ogunfeyimi Mary Olawunmi, School Manager, Methodist Primary School, in her remarks appreciated the Council Chairman for fulfilling his promise within 60 days.
