FRESH AIR IN ELEPE COMMUNITY, AS SANWO-OLU INSTALLS OBA GANIU ADEKOYEJO OMOTAYO AS FIDIMOLU OF ELEPE KINGDOM, AFTER 46 YEARS AS BAALE. | Shakiru Seidu. ...Monarchs, Lawmaker, Council Chairmen, Others urge new Monarch to preserve heritage, foster unity among people.

Everyone unequivocally rejoiced as His Royal Majesty, Oba Ganiu Adekoyejo Omotayo, Olutemowo 1, Fidimolu of Elepe Kingdom, in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, ascended the throne of his forefathers on Thursday, July 18, 2024. 

There is no much ado that the choice of a quiet achiever, a liberal, visionary, cultured, goal-getter, and profound gentleman, will surely bring progress to Elepe Kingdom, MegaXpression learnt.
In his address during the presentation of Staff of Office, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, said the government has scrutinized and accepted that due process has been followed in the selection of the Fidimolu of Elepe Kingdom.
According to the Governor, who was ably represented by Commissioner for Chieftancy Affairs and Rural Development, Lagos State, Hon. Bolaji Kayode Robert, said it would be recalled that the people of Elepe Community in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA were persistent in their request for a traditional ruler after Oba Ganiu Omotayo has spent 46 years as Baale of Elepe Community.

Sanwo-Olu therefore congratulated the new King and the entire people of Elepe land and urged them to give unalloyed support to the new monarch in order to enable him to continue to safeguard the sanctity of this sacred and highly reserved institution.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the Permanent Secretaries, Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa of Ministry of Chieftancy Affairs and Rural Development and Alhaji Waheed Kasali of Ministry of Education, to the historic event.

In his brief eloquent remarks, the Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder (Prince ) Olusesan Daini, congratulated the newly installed Monarch, Oba Ganiu Omotayo, while urging the community to support him, emphasizing Elepe Town’s rich cultural heritage and the promise of prosperity, peace, and progress under the new leadership.

“To our new king, Fidimolu of Elepe Kingdom, your ascension to the throne is not only a recognition of your lineage and right, but also an acknowledgement of your integrity, wisdom, and commitment to the service of our people. As you receive the staff of office, may it serve as a symbol of your authority and a reminder of the responsibilities that come with it," Daini stated.

Adding that Elepe Town has a rich history, known for its culture, tradition, and resilience. "I believe our new king will further preserve the heritage of our land and foster unity among our people, and also lead us towards greater achievements. Your reign marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that we believe will be filled with prosperity, peace, and progress by God’s grace,” Daini opined.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Ganiu Adekoyejo Omotayo, Fidimolu of Elepe Kingdom, in his remarks thanked the Lagos State Government under the able leadership of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has deemed it fit to uplift him to a King after 46years as Baale. He also appreciated the Chairman Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Daini, the Royal Heads in Ikorodu Division for their unalloyed supports. 
Oba Omotayo further used the opportunity to thank Ijaolu ruling house and Elepe of Epe in Shagamu, for the efforts made towards achieving this success. He however assured that his reign shall be of peaceful one.

Thereafter the presentation of Staff of Office and Certificate to the Oba Ganiu Omotayo, the King was led to Adeboruwa Palace, where he paid homage, before ascending to the Fidimolu Palace in Elepe town.

His Royal Majesties, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Ranodu of Imota, Obateru of Egbin, Olubeshe of Ibeshe, Sekumade of Ipakodo, Eweye of Isiwu, Alagura of Agura, Regent of Ijede, Adeboruwa Chiefs led by Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom, High Chiefs from Ikorodu Division, religious leaders, league of Baales and members Ijaolu ruling house were all in attendance.

Others notable personalities at the event are the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Ikorodu Constituency 2 House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro AMA, former commissioner for Agric, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Ikorodu North and Imota LCDAs Chairmen, Member Lagos Sixth and Seventh Assemblies, Hon. Gbenga Oshin and Hon. Oluomo Adebimpe Akinsola, Imam Sheikh Dhikirulahi Andu Tanimose, Alhaji Monzor Olowosago of Oriwu Sun Newspaper, Past Council Chairmen and Current Council Cabinet and Councillors in Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA, APC Stalwarts and Osugbos.

Also, Mr Yemisi Odusoga, Mr Shakiru Seidu, Mr Nosiru Titilope Andu NTA,  Mr Hameed Aroyewun, among others were equally in attendance.
