PROTEST: IGBOGBO/ BAYEKU LCDA CHAIRMANSHIP ASPIRANT, SHAKIRU SEIDU PLEADS FOR CALM. ...Says President Tinubu is engaging Stakeholders.

Ahead of the planned nationwide protest in August, the leading Aspirant in 2025 Chairmanship Elections in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Mr Shakiru Moritan Seidu, has appealed to Nigerians, particularly the youth of Ikorodu Division, to be patient with the Federal Government.

The renowned Journalist made the plea on Wednesday at Ikorodu, while speaking with Newsmen, immediately after a Town Hall Meeting, organized by Ikorodu Monarchs and LG/LCDAs Chairmen, on the proposed protest.

Briefing journalists after the program, Seidu said the Federal Government and other relevant authorities have started engaging with all stakeholders on the matter.

“You see, according to what I witnessed here today, it is obvious that the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu believes in everyone’s freedom within the laws to do what he thinks is right. Therefore, the President is not an opponent of protest of any kind but the President is an opponent of violence and anything that will negatively hamper the wellbeing of Nigerians.

“Also, like what CP Fayoade Adegoke, Commissioner of Police Lagos State, said today, that he believes and he has always been saying that within the tenets of democracy, people have every right to do whatever they want to do, provided that right does not infringe on another person’s right.

“So, why everybody is very cautious and very weary of this national protest is because we have seen what has happened around the world. We know that it’s almost impossible to hold this protest and then have peace at the end of the day. We cannot do that because it's possible that some people are waiting to take the laws into their own hands. Let's learn from the EndSAS Scenario,” Seidu warned.

He further argued that President Tinubu is fully aware of the genuine concerns and complaints expressed by Nigerians across the nation and he believes the President is actively working to implement effective policies aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by the citizenry and bringing relief to all Nigerians.
