BATTLE FOR SHAGAMU CONSTITUENCY 1: OMO'BA 'PEJU AKINYEMI DECLARES INTENTION TO CONTEST IN 2019, UNVEILS HIS UNCOMMON LEGISLATIVE AGENDA. | Shakiru Seidu. "We must eschew money politics for better Nigeria" Otunba Ganiu Abiru urges the electorates.

Change they say is the only constant thing in life. We may quite agreed with the school of thought but then, any change that has no definite purpose and direction is nothing but CHAIN and PAIN.

The Shagamu Constituency 1 was known to have produced great men and women who are  technocrats, entrepreneurs, dynamic political leaders, business moguls and several other professionals. But the question is, were they really represented very well politically at the Ogun State House of Assembly? These and more were addressed during the official flag off of Omo'ba Peju Akinyemi Abraham, when he hosted all, to make his intention to contest for Ogun State House of Assembly, Shagamu Constituency 1, known to his constituents.

In his three legislative agenda, Omo'ba Peju Akinyemi, emphasized more on agriculture, youth empowerment, affordable health care, among the rest. "Since the primary responsibility of a legislator is law-making, I have been able to summarize my proposed legislative agenda in the Ogun State House of Assembly into three cogent point, tagged; 3-POINT LEGISLATIVE AGENDA." He said.

Omo'ba Peju choose Legislative Innovations as his first concentration when he get to the House of Assembly. "Bearing in mind our primary responsibility as Legislator, we shall take this responsibility very seriously by discharging our duties with utmost seriousness and responsibility. We are in very critical times in our democratic experience as a nation. What becomes of Nigeria, good or otherwise will be a function of what the political class does with the current political dispensation. There is Hunger and Anger in the land. There are Fears and Tears all over the country. There are Agitations, Apprehensions and Frustrations. And, lastly there is gross Hopelessness.

"The above scenario calls for pragmatic, innovative and people-centered legislation that will help to deepen our democracy; by allaying citizen's fears, calming frayed nerves; and, most importantly, restoring lost hope and confidence in government and the nation as a whole.

"If critical times requires critical approaches and solutions, it means that we need an army of political innovators who will change the face of government business in Nigeria, through Innovative Legislations at the state and federal levels.

As someone who started my first business without capital over 12 years ago, I am a testimony of creating something out of nothing!  The recent launch of our innovative Nigeria's first online community radio, Ikorodu Oga Radio, is also another humble proof  that I represent these crop of innovative legislators desperately required at the state and federal levels to address our myriad of national socio-economic, ethno-religious and political challenges." He explained.

Community and Human Capacity Development was said to be his next focus. "As a believer in the popular saying that 'when you give a man fish, you feed him for a day, and when you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime' we shall embark on vigorous human capacity development and economic empowerment initiatives that will position our constituents as major stakeholders and contributors to the socio-economic development of our State, and Nigeria in particular.

"On the other hand, we shall vigorously legislate, promote and position Sagamu Constituency 1 as a major beneficiary of government development programmes and policies. We shall also promote 'private' community development initiatives that will stimulate the development of our constituency, thereby putting it at a vantage position, above other constituencies within and outside Ogun State." Omo'ba Peju Akinyemi said.

As gathered by MegaXpression Magazine, Omo'ba Peju Akinyemi further concluded the third agenda to be Robust Public Engagement and Regular Feedbacks. "As a forward-looking and responsible representative, coupled with my profession as a Journalist, I understand the unique synergy that should exist between a representative and his constituents. Consequently, I will, by God's grace introduce multiple traditional and unconventional communication and feedback channels that will promote mutual understanding between me and my constituents.

"Regular Town Hall Meetings, Publications and Updates shall be a regular feature of my representation. This will be complimented with a strong public policy analysis mechanism, to afford us the opportunity to feel, on a first hand, the pulse of our people, with a view to meeting their yearnings and expectations." He remarked.

He promised to make mandatory, Agric Farm Bill, i.e., Food production Employment generation and Revenue Mobilisation. On Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Bill, he promised to enhance Education Scholarship and Infrastructural Support. Also, Akinyemi assured of Indigenous Language Preservation Bill, by giving priority to Cultural preservation and Academic Curriculum.

On Employment Trust Fund Bill, Omo'ba Akinyemi assured of staging Compulsory Graduate Business School Programme / Loan Vocational / Skill Trainings and Financial Empowerment for SMEs.
Nevertheless, Health Insurance Bill, that will give Compulsory Health Insurance Services and Affordable Treatments was said to be done by Omo'ba Peju Akinyemi. While Indudtrial Park / SME Hub Bill, which will give room for Economic and community development, employment /Job creation, will also receive prompt address.

In the course of the declaration, Omo'ba 'Peju Akinyemi launched a new movement called: 'NEW DAWN POLITICAL MOVEMENT', which shall embark on major community development and humanitarian outreaches and will also precede the political campaign proper.

"This is with a view to fraternize with the people and sell the Group (NDM), its Candidate, Omo'ba 'Peju Akinyemi and his Programmes to the teeming electorates and party men and women across Sagamu Constituency 1 of Ogun State. We intend to use this as a way of giving our people, a glimpse of what we have in store for them, when elected into office. There will be strategic public awareness and consultations with key stakeholders across the community at the same time." He revealed.

Omo'ba Peju Akinyemi, on a final note, enjoined all to support the movement, morally, financially towards actualising his dream and objectives.

In his eloquent remarks, the former Clerk, Lagos State House of Assembly, Chairman, Ikorodu Development Association, IKODASS, and also contender for the Senate Seat at Lagos East Senatorial, Otunba Ganiu Olusegun Abiru, applauded the zeal and passion for development in Omo'ba Peju Akinyemi. He assured of his total support towards actualising his dream. Abiru therefore, enjoined all to eschew money politics, participate in progressive politics and ensure the betterment of Nigerians.
