AROYEWUN COMMENDS LAGOS FIRE SERVICE FOR ‘PROMPT RESPONSE’ TO CONTAIN FIRE OUTBREAK AT AKIN OGUNLEWE STREET IGBOGBO.
The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Omo'ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has extended his heartfelt commendation to the Lagos State Fire Service for their lightning-fast response to a fire outbreak at Akin Ogunlewe Street, Igbogbo, late last night, an intervention that saved lives, preserved property, and demonstrated the life-saving power of effective governance.
The Chairman personally recognized the heroic team leaders, Mr. Oladele Afeez and Mr. Oni Jeremiah, hailing them as "the unseen supermen who embody the true spirit of public service and professional excellence."
Eyewitness Mr. Adeleke, a resident of Akin Ogunlewe Road, recounted the dramatic rescue: "Help came immediately. The speed and professionalism of the Lagos State emergency service prevented what could have been a devastating tragedy."
"This is the standard, where governance meets urgency, and every life matters," said the Executive Chairman. "When our people call, we don't just answer; we deliver. These brave officers transformed a night of fear into a testament of resilience, and we are eternally grateful."
Chairman Aroyewun also spotlighted the instrumental role of his Special Adviser on Chieftaincy and Community Development, Comr. Odusanya Abdulateef Omotayo (TySleek), whose relentless engagement with residents ensured this success story reached the appropriate quarters and community voices were amplified.
"Comr. Tayo Odusanya represents the connective tissue of the HOA led-administration, ensuring the people and their government speak the same language of progress," the Chairman noted.
Chairman Aroyewun disclosed that the Council had previously initiated steps toward establishing a permanent Fire Service Office in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, and efforts to intensify the process are currently underway.
"Prevention, preparedness, and proximity are the pillars of our GLORY Agenda," Chairman Aroyewun declared. "We are not content with reactive excellence; we are building proactive infrastructure. The people have spoken, and we have listened. A local fire station is not a promise, it is a priority."
The Chairman reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to partnering with Lagos State agencies, empowering community stakeholders, and positioning IBLCDA as a model LCDA for safety, responsiveness, and people-centered governance.
