AROYEWUN ENSURES STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH MONTHLY ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION IN IGBOGBO/BAYEKU LCDA. ...As Compactors cart away drainage Waste.
The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area, Omo'ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health through strict enforcement of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the LCDA.
During the sanitation exercise Saturday, the Chairman ensured full compliance in all the 5 Wards, with environmental Officers and relevant agencies, such as Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, and environmental Departments actively monitoring residents, traders, and motorists to guarantee adherence to the sanitation guidelines.
As part of the coordinated effort to achieve a cleaner and flood-free Igbogbo/Bayeku, compactors were strategically deployed to cart away refuse and debris evacuated from drainage channels.
The initiative is aimed at preventing blockage of waterways, reducing the risk of flooding, and promoting a healthier environment for residents.
Aroyewun, why responding to MegaXpression Correspondence, emphasized the importance of community participation, noting that environmental Sanitation is a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of all stakeholders.
“A clean environment is fundamental to the health and well-being of our people. We will continue to enforce compliance while also providing the necessary support systems, such as waste evacuation through compactors, to sustain a cleaner Igbogbo/Bayeku,” he stated.
Residents who participated in the exercise commended the Chairman Aroyewun’s proactive approach, particularly the timely deployment of compactors, which ensured that waste removed from drains was promptly evacuated rather than left to accumulate.
The Chairman further warned against indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainage channels, stressing that defaulters will face appropriate sanctions in line with environmental laws.
This renewed drive underscores the administration’s ongoing efforts to maintain environmental sustainability, enhance urban sanitation standards, and safeguard lives and property within Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA
