COUNCIL CHIEF, HON ADEOLA BANJO GIVES YORUBA TEXTBOOKS TO PUPILS OF 15 PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN IKORODU NORTH LCDA. | Shakiru Seidu. ...Says it's aim to ensure protection of Yoruba culture and identity.
The Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon Adeola Adebisi Banjo, was on Wednesday presented Yoruba textbooks to pupils of 15 primary schools in the LCDA. The book tittled 'Osupa' was written by Remi S. Adeyemi, and some of the chapters were read to the pupils by the world tittle owner of Guinness book of records in reading, Mr Bayode Treasure and the Yoruba teacher of LG primary school Isiu.
According to Chairman while addressing the gathering, "it is gratifying to note that, since inception of our administration on July 25th, 2017, we have fulfilled our promises on education revitalization course, which is our key features for advancement of our locality. Thus, we do not need to continue to emphases our achievements but our action in schools has signified that this dispensation is ready to enhance education development.
"However, our interest in education sector leads us to the right perception for us to develop the mindset for indigenous language. Hence, Yoruba language to be accorded priority in our various schools to enhance quality in all ramification. Let me intimate you of the objectives of this exercise towards our education sector.
"To ensure that Yoruba culture is accorded high priority in our various schools. To ensure that Yoruba language is not gone into extinction. To ensure protection of Yoruba culture and identity. To ensure that mother tongue language places a high premium in our various schools. To ensure that pupils in our various school develop the zeal for Yoruba culture subject in schools. To enhance cultural motivation and development by the pupils in schools. To ensure Yoruba language is widely spoken during academic situation to portray cultural heritage development.
"Having identified this objectives, let me reiterate the commitment of our administration to ensure continuous provision of facilities in our various schools to enhance academic quality that our school deserve."
The proactive Chairman further appreciated the teachers for their outstanding pedigree displayed while teaching in schools. He also implored the pupils who benefited from this laudable gesture to liaise with their teachers to ensure that the textbooks are judiciously utilized for effective reading in other to entrenched Yoruba, mother tongue language as a vital instrument for academic development and communication.
Some of the benefited schools are Africa Bethel Primary school Maya, Zumratul Islamiyyah primary school Odogunyan, CPS Agodo Alara, Anglican primary school Akaun, LG primary school Isiu, African Bethel Erikorodo, CPS Odonla, St saviours primary school Igbesa, amongst others.
