IKORODU STANDS STILL FOR APC, AS BABAJIMI BENSON FLAGS-OFF CAMPAIGN. | Shakiru Seidu. "JB has shown to be a good Ambassador of our great Party," Hon Femi Gbajabiamila reveals.
The representative of Ikorodu federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ikorodu Division, on Saturday set out on another political journey at the open field of Ita-Elewa, in Ikorodu, Lagos State. They all came out in their thousands to make a strong statement about their commitment, determination and zeal to return Hon Babajimi Adegoke Benson to the House of Reps and to continue to provide enviable political leadership to the people of Ikorodu Division.
The event, which was the flag-off of the campaign of Hon Babajimi Benson and the presentation of flag to him as the candidate for the House of Reps, ahead of the forthcoming general elections in the country, had an unprecedented crowd of party supporters that trooped out to witness the rally that has been described as the mother of all rallies in the political history of the Ikorodu Division.
MegaXpression reports that the development, according to political pundits in Ikorodu, was to make a statement of support and commitment to the erudite legislator, Hon Babajimi Benson, that come rain, come shine, the people of Ikorodu federal Constituency would continue to support him in the overall interest of the Division and of the State as a whole.
The iCARE Team, who were enthusiastic about Jimi Benson as a projects, have been making a good outing and have vowed to ensure that all the candidates of the APC, starting from presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Senate, Hon Bayo Osinowo, JB himself as House of Reps, Hon SOB Agunbiade and Hon Nurudeen Sholaja, were all elected.
As early as 9.a.m on Saturday, Party faithful and supporters of APC across the Six Local Councils of Ikorodu federal Constituency defied all hindrances and joined the rest at the venue of the rally. Supporters were seen in Orange colours, brandishing placards with inscriptions such as, “JB leekan si”, “JB will do it very well”, “Jimi Benson la fe”, “JB is our Rep”, among others.
Hon Babajimi Benson, who was highly elated with the massive turn out of the Party’s members at the rally, said that “the members of the APC in Ikorodu Division and entire people of the state have resolved to frustrate the PDP's threat to wrestle power from APC by all means.
“I want to tell you that this forthcoming general elections in Ikorodu is not about me alone, or about our governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu and other candidates in the election, but about Lagos State and our winning tradition. We must come out with our permanent voters cards and come out enmasse during the polls to vote for all the APC candidates, starting from the President to House of Assembly members," he added.
JB, as he fondly called, further revealed that if re-elected, he will put up his best to double his past achievements. He also promised to continue with the good work of his previous quality representation. He added that youths would be empowered and offered employment opportunities for them to contribute their quota to the growth of our society.
Also speaking at the event, the Director General of the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu Campaign Organization, Mr Tayo Ayinde told the mammoth crowd that the forthcoming general elections would be won landslide by APC.
Tayo Ayinde stated that “PDP and other political Parties would not have their way in the political calculations of the state because they are allegedly planning to disrupt the master plan of the State.”
Ayinde also noted that “the coming out of our members and supporters for this flag off of Hon Babajimi Benson is an attestation of his acceptance and this will be shown to our opposition group through voting during the poll in the coming election.” He urged the members of the Party to come out enmasse and mobilise more voters for the All Progressives Congress, APC, during the elections.
The Majority Leader of House of Reps, Hon Femi Gbajabiala said that the superlative achievements of Hon Babajimi Benson would assist the Party to win in Ikorodu Division. He advised the Party members to go inward and mobilise for votes so as to ensure a landslide victory of the Party in the Division, Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
Gbajabiamila, who used the occasion to laud the political sagacity of Hon Babajimi Benson said JB's zeal has continued to be a great tonic for the growth of the APC both in the national assembly and in his constituency. "Despite my years of experience as a legislator, I'm still learning a lot of things from Hon Babajimi Benson," he added.
Also speaking at the historic rally, the former Deputy Governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former SSG, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun and former SA and Acting Commissioner, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, Lagos State House of Assembly member, representing Ikorodu 2, Hon Nurudeen Sholaja-Saka, were all applauded the uncommon representation of Hon Babajimi Benson. They urged the aggrieved aspirants to erase their grievances and work towards the success of APC.
In the same vein, the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon SOB Agunbiade, also revealed to the large crowd that APC in Ikorodu Division remain one indivisible entity. He urged all to eschew violence and massively vote for APC Candidates to excel in the forthcoming elections.
The APC East Senatorial Vice Chairman, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, after his eloquent remarks used the occasion to present flag to the candidate of the Party for House of Reps, Ikorodu federal Constituency, Hon Babajimi Benson, and enjoined the members of the Party to vote enmasse for him during the poll.
The colourful campaign flag-off of the erudite legislator, Hon Babajimi Benson, was later called to close under a peaceful atmosphere with melodious music from the fuji music star called Mr 'Valentine'
Others at the flag-off were His Royal Majesty, Oba Aremu Sotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo, APC Chieftains, Princess Adenrele Ogunsanya, Chief Adenrele Olowu, Mr Lanre Balogun and Yeye Fausat Gbadebo. Mrs Bolanle Basorun, Mr Segun Anifowose, Alhaja Okeowo-Adewunmi and other former Sole Administrators.
Also at the historic rally were the six Council Chairmen, Mr Wasiu Adeshina of Ikorodu LG, Hon Banjo Adebisi of Ikorodu North LCDA, Princess Jumoke Jumbo Ademehin of Ikorodu West LCDA, Alhaji Fatiu Salisu of Ijede LCDA, Prince Wasiu Agoro of Imota LCDA and the anchor man for the rally, Comrade Olusesan Daini of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA. The six LGA Chairmen with their Exco led by Alhaji Sefiu Ogunyemi, 30 Ward Chairmen with their Exco, Women leaders, Youth leaders, amongst Party faithfuls.
The rest were Vice Chairmen, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Mr Titilola Adegboyega and Mr Ameen Apanishile. Hon Saheed Ibikunle, Prince Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, Mr Nero Agbaje, Mr Akeju, DG iCARE Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Deputy DG, Mr Bayo Oteju and other members of iCARE Team, Directorates of Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu ICG and many groups and associations were in attendance.
