RAMADAN LECTURE: SENATOR TOKUNBO ABIRU, ISLAMIC SCHOLARS TASK MUSLIM COMMUNITY ON ZAKAT. ...Says it's solution to world economic debacle.

The Senator, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has charged the Muslim Community on the giving of Zakat to the less privileges.

Abiru stated this in Igbogbo, why speaking with MegaXpression correspondence, through one of his Aides, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, during one of his Ramadan Lectures, held at Central Mosque Igbogbo, on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

The Ramadan lecture series of Senator Abiru was referred to, as a platform for spiritual growth, community engagement, and a deeper connection with Almighty Allah.

Akinsola revealed that this Ramadan Lecture is organised by the distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, and it's across the Lagos East Senatorial District. She therefore implored Muslim faithfuls in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and Ikorodu Division at large, to strive to make positive impacts in their communities and always remember the values of compassion, empathy and kindness during the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking on the lecture topic: "Zakat, Solution to world economic debacle", the grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, Fadhilat Sheikh Samusideen Ademoritan Oloworibi, through one of the Islamic Scholars, highlighted reasons why Zakat should be giving priority in our daily activities.

The clergyman lamented that due to the sins of humans and negligence of those in leadership, the country despite being blessed with several mineral resources remained poor.

"We should endeavor to follow the instructions of Almighty Allah by giving respect to zakat. And more so, we should repent from our sins, the sins of illicit acts that have corrupted our society, that has corrupted you as an individual and the people around us. If you do this, Almighty Allah will assist us, forgive us, and we will see His good face”, the Clergyman said.

Also at the Senator Abiru's Ramadan Lecture in Igbogbo were Alhaji Ola 4, Alhaja Abiodun Ogunniyi, ECF members in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Yemisi Odusoga, Hon. Jelili Ogunmuyiwa, Comrade Comfort Olafare, ECF Coordinators, Hon. Aderemi Oshodi of Ward C1, Mr Shakiru Seidu of Ward C2, and Chief Okemati from Ward C5.

Others are Fadhilat Sheikh Sikirulahi Andu Tanimose, ground Chief Imam, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Chief Imams from other local Councils in Ikorodu Division, the Central Mosque Chiefs, Alfas, amongst the rest.
