The Chairman House Committee on Defence, representing Ikorodu federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson MHR, has donated N200,000 each to 30 Law Students graduates across Ikorodu federal Constituency.
According to him, the donation was in a bid to support education and alleviate financial challenges faced by students. “The financial support is designed to provide relief to our future legal practitioners, ensuring they have the necessary financial backing to excel,” Benson opined.
During the presentation of the financial aid to the beneficiaries, the erudite lawmaker urged the students to represent Ikorodu federal Constituency with honour and distinction. He noted that the assistance was a fulfilment of his determination to contribute to the educational growth of Ikorodu Division, underscoring that the gesture was devoid of any political or ethnic affiliations.
“We cherish education and one of the ways through which we can impact our society is to give unfettered access to education and assist our students,” Benson stated, emphasising the significance of education in societal development.
Encouraging the beneficiaries to excel not only in their legal pursuits but also in their representation of the constituency, Benson urged them to utilise their legal knowledge and future expertise to contribute positively to their communities. He stressed the role they play in promoting justice and equity within society through their endeavours in the legal profession.
Meanwhile, the DG, iCARE Foundation, Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, in his eloquent address, congratulated the beneficiaries, noting that the initiative was borne out of realization that many law graduates are facing financial difficulties while preparing for their law school.
"A young graduate brought to our attention that many students struggled to afford law school, often leading to deferred admissions. This prompted Rep. Benson to launch an open application process for law graduates residing in Ikorodu Federal Constituency," Sanwoola narrated.
He further stated that 30 applicants were selected to receive the financial support, which aimed at alleviating their financial burdens and enable them to focus on their studies. Sanwoola stressed that the grant is a one-off initiative that will be sustainable, and it is open to all residents of Ikorodu, regardless of their background or faith.
The Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya, Basorun Babatunde Rotinwa, Arc Taiwo Kara, and Aremo Adesegun Ogunlewe, amongst other eminent personalities, were all urged the beneficiaries to stay focused through their academic endeavors.
