AROYEWUN URGES TRADERS, BUSINESS OWNERS TO EMBRACE TAX COMPLIANCE, SAYS REVENUE REMAINS THE BACKBONE OF GRASSROOTS DEVELOPMENT

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has urged traders, business owners and residents across the council area to fully comply with the payment of approved taxes, rates and development levies, describing revenue generation as a vital pillar for sustainable grassroots development.

The Chairman made the advocacy on IKD 106.1 FM on Thursday through his Special Adviser on Media and Public Relations, Shakiru Moritan Seidu (SMS), and the Chairman of the Council's Revenue Collection Team, Mr. Tunde Okusanya.

Omo’ba Aroyewun stressed that the development of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA is a collective responsibility, noting that government requires the cooperation and support of the people to deliver quality services and execute impactful projects.

According to him, taxes and development levies are not merely payments but investments in the growth and future of the community.

“The development we all desire requires collective commitment. Better roads, a cleaner environment, improved public facilities and effective grassroots governance can only be sustained when everyone plays their part,” the Chairman stated.

He urged traders and business owners not to see tax payment as a burden but as a patriotic contribution towards building a stronger and more prosperous Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.

The Chairman also assured residents that his administration remains committed to accountability and the judicious utilisation of public resources for the benefit of the people.

Speaking during the radio programme, Shakiru Moritan Seidu appealed to residents and business operators to cooperate with authorised revenue collectors, while Mr. Tunde Okusanya encouraged taxpayers to ensure that they deal only with properly identified officials and obtain official receipts for every approved payment.

The message of the HOA administration remains clear: government cannot build a prosperous community alone. When the people fulfil their civic responsibilities and government remains accountable, development becomes a shared success.
"Every tax paid is a contribution to progress. Every development levy is a seed planted for the future. Together, we can build the Igbogbo/Bayeku of our dreams," Aroyewun added.
