IKODASS TARGETS 500 PARTICIPANTS FOR 7TH OBA KABIR ADEWALE SHOTOBI MINI MARATHON. …As Shotobi, Others Applaud Agunbiade for Sustaining Sporting Initiative.

The Ikorodu Descendants Association (IKODASS) is set to host the 7th edition of the Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi Mini Marathon, with about 500 participants expected to take part in the sporting event.

The mini marathon, an initiative of the former Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. S.O.B. Agunbiade, has been incorporated into activities leading up to this year’s Ikorodu Oga Day celebration.

Speaking of preparations for the event, the lead organiser, Mr. Akeem Bello, said all necessary arrangements were in top gear to ensure a successful and well-coordinated marathon. He assured participants of adequate security and other essential logistics, noting that the relevant security agencies and personnel would be fully deployed for the event.

Bello also expressed appreciation to Prince Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, APC flagbearer for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu Constituency I, for donating 100 tracksuits to support the participants. He further appealed to individuals, organisations and corporate bodies to support the initiative through financial and material contributions.

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, commended Hon. S.O.B. Agunbiade and the organisers for sustaining the initiative, describing the marathon as a valuable platform for promoting fitness, healthy living and community participation.

The monarch acknowledged that Agunbiade’s health challenges had contributed to the interruption of the marathon in recent times, while offering prayers for his speedy and complete recovery.

Oba Shotobi also made a generous donation towards the programme and called on other well-meaning individuals, organisations and corporate bodies to support the initiative morally and financially to ensure its continued success.

The 7th edition is expected to attract residents, indigenes, youths and fitness enthusiasts, adding colour to the activities heralding the annual Ikorodu Oga Day celebration.
