The Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade, has distributed 310 free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to students of his Constituents.
The erudite legislator distributed the forms in Igbogbo on Friday, April 23, 2021, at HOMAT ICT Centre Igbogbo, noting that the gesture is aimed at improving the standard of education in Ikorodu Division and Lagos State at large. He added that the forms were distributed to reduce the burden of JAMB registration on parents of the students.
"The purpose of this is to ease the burden of my Constituents. We are not just giving JAMB forms but we are helping them to pass the examination excellently by also organizing a computer based test training for them," Agunbiade said.
The lawmaker urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity, pay attention to the computer based test training, create time to read for the examination and not get involved in cheating, and make sure that they come out in flying colors.
He added that the best JAMB candidate will be given a sum of fifty thousand naira (N50,000), publish and publicize on various social media, present a flag and organize a get together party to celebrate him/her as the best student, and if possible the second and third position will also be giving a cash reward depending on how it goes.
Agunbiade further enjoined the beneficiaries to thank those that nominated them' because it's a great privilege for each and everyone of them. "I urged you all to study well in order to come out in flying colours," he added.
One of the beneficiaries, Abisoye Shodeinde, while speaking with MegaXpression Media, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker, saying that the gesture will no doubt impact the lives positively. “This is a privilege to us as students because it lessens the burden on our parents. I will advise others to make use of this opportunity judiciously,” she said.
Also, Oduguwa Oluwakemi Ufoma, another beneficiary, equally appreciated the lawmaker for giving him the opportunity to get a free JAMB form. “If I passed the JAMB examination, I will like to study Medicine at the Lagos State University. This has really helped parents who could not afford to buy the form,” he said.
