The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/ Bayeku Local Council Development Area, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, on Thursday evening led members of his Cabinet to the Wake Keep held in honour of the late Prince Adeleke Shoberu, whose sudden death occurred on Tuesday.
The solemn gathering, held at the residence of the deceased in Igbogbo, drew family members, friends, political associates, community leaders, and sympathizers who came together to pay their last respects to the departed APC stalwart.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Aroyewun expressed deep sadness over the passing of Prince Shoberu, describing him as a committed party man and respected member of the Igbogbo community whose contributions would not be forgotten.
The Chairman commiserated with the entire APC family through the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Taiwo Orenuga, and also extended heartfelt condolences to the Shoberu family, praying that God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Members of the APC present at the event also took turns to reflect on the life and virtues of the late Prince Shoberu, noting his dedication to the progress of the party and the development of the community.
Delivering a touching sermon during the Wake Keep service, Archbishop Most Revd. Toyi of the UAMC Cathedral, Igbogbo, reminded attendees of the transient nature of life and urged everyone to live a life of purpose, faith, and service to humanity. His message brought moments of reflection and comfort to the bereaved family and all present.
The funeral service for the late Prince Adeleke Shoberu is scheduled to hold on Friday at the UAMC Cathedral Eleja, Igbogbo, where family members, friends, and well-wishers are expected to gather for the final rites.
