Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru FCA, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the completion of the ongoing reconstruction of the 34-kilometre Ikorodu–Itoikin Road and the 4.5-kilometre Itoikin–Ijebu-Ode Road after undertaking an inspection tour of the projects.
During the inspection, the Lagos East lawmaker reviewed the pace and quality of work, interacted with engineers and project officials, and expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded so far. He emphasized the need to sustain the momentum to ensure timely delivery of the strategic road infrastructure.
Senator Abiru disclosed that reconstruction from the Sabo Roundabout axis towards Itoikin has progressed to nearly seven kilometres, while approximately 4.5 kilometres have been completed from the Itoikin end towards Ikorodu. He added that work is actively ongoing on the remaining sections, while the rehabilitated Itoikin–Ijebu-Ode Road is now motorable with final finishing touches approaching completion.
Describing the projects as vital to the socio-economic transformation of Lagos East, the senator noted that the upgraded roads will improve connectivity, ease the movement of people and goods, stimulate commercial activities, and enhance the overall quality of life of residents across the affected communities.
He reiterated that he would continue to closely monitor the projects and maintain engagements with relevant authorities to ensure they are completed in line with specifications and within the expected timeframe.
The Ikorodu–Itoikin Road, a major transport corridor linking communities in Ikorodu Division with parts of Epe Division, has long posed challenges to commuters and motorists due to years of deterioration. Through sustained advocacy and engagements with the Federal Government, Senator Abiru facilitated the commencement of the reconstruction project.
Reaffirming his dedication to delivering impactful representation, Senator Abiru assured constituents that he would continue to champion developmental initiatives that strengthen infrastructure, improve connectivity, and promote sustainable economic growth across Lagos East.
