AROYЕWUN COMMENDS SMS FOR CONSISTENT DOCUMENTATION, ACCOUNTABILITY. …Says Seidu is first among 170 participants to submit leadership seminar report across Ikorodu Division.

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has commended his Special Adviser on Media and Public Relations, Shakiru Moritan Seidu (SMS), for his consistency in documentation, accountability and commitment to the progress of the administration.

Aroyewun gave the commendation on Thursday, September 25, 2026, when Seidu formally presented his comprehensive report of the 3-Day Lagos Local Governance Leadership Programme, held in Lekki, Lagos, from September 17 to 20, 2026, with the theme “Serving Within Mandate.”

The programme brought together about 170 political office holders from the six Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in Ikorodu Division.

The presentation was witnessed by key members of the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA administration, including the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Kudus Oduntan; Chief of Staff, Hon. Wasiu Adedayo Olowu; Special Adviser on Digital Media, Mr. Henry Ikuesan, among other senior officials and members of the administration.

Expressing his satisfaction with the gesture, Chairman Aroyewun noted that Shakiru Seidu was the first and, at the time of the presentation, the only participant among the 170 attendees to return with a documented report of the leadership programme.

The Chairman’s commendation was also rooted in Seidu’s established culture of documenting programmes he attends on behalf of the administration. He recalled that about four months earlier, Seidu had similarly prepared and presented a detailed report of the 2026 International Seminar on Green Economy, Energy Innovation, Sustainable Development and Leadership Exposure Programme in China, which he attended as part of the delegation sponsored by Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR.

That earlier report, like the latest leadership programme report, captured the knowledge acquired, activities undertaken, key lessons and possible relevance of the experience to grassroots development.

Aroyewun therefore applauded Seidu’s record-keeping culture, consistency and commitment, describing the practice as commendable and valuable to public administration.

He further appreciated the Special Adviser for demonstrating a sense of responsibility that goes beyond merely attending programmes, but extends to documenting, sharing and returning the knowledge gained to the administration.

Presenting the latest report, Seidu explained that the leadership programme was more than a training exercise. It provided an opportunity to reflect on public service, institutional mandates, financial discipline, teamwork, transformational leadership, conflict resolution and preparation for life after office.

He noted that one of his strongest takeaways from the programme was that “public office is temporary, but purposeful service can create a lasting legacy.”

According to him, preparing and presenting the report was his modest way of ensuring that the administration benefits from the experience beyond his personal participation.

He expressed appreciation to Chairman Aroyewun for the confidence and privilege given to him to participate in the programme, while reaffirming his commitment to supporting the administration through effective communication, documentation, constructive engagement and professional service.

The presentation therefore marked another chapter in Seidu’s growing culture of learning, documenting and giving back, reinforcing the value of proper records as part of institutional memory and effective governance.
