LAGOS LAWMAKER DISTRIBUTES OVER 100 JAMB FORMS TO STUDENTS IN IKORODU, PROMISES TO PAY FIRST TUITION FEES FOR STUDENTS SCORED ABOVE 300 MARKS. Homat's CEO, Alhaji Amusa, others applaud Hon. SOB Agunbiade's gesture.

The Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade, has distributed over 100 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to students of Ikorodu Division.

Agunbiade distributed the forms in Igbogbo on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at HOMAT ICT Centre Igbogbo. Saying the gesture is aimed at improving the standard of education in the Division, State and the country at large.

Agunbiade added that the forms were distributed to reduce the burden of JAMB registration on parents of the students. "The purpose of this is to let you know that the fact that you didn't spend your money to purchase the form or someone purchased for you is not a license for you not to be serious.

"Don't say because my parent is not the one that bought  it, I can just go into the exam and just do the exam. That is why we insisted that for you to be listed as beneficiary, you must show us your result, we must see that you have the combination that after passing the JAMB, you have the marks that will take you into reading the course of your study, you must have the prerequisite to even be admitted, that is the first thing we showed before tendering your result.

"We don't want a situation that after you do the JAMB, you still be struggling and lobbying for someone to push for admission for you, you should be on the merit list. Part of your own idea is to tell you that writing the exam is not the ultimate, the ultimate is getting admitted into the university of your choice to read a course of your choice," Agunbiade implored.

The Majority leader, who also doubled as the Opomulero  of Ikorodu Kingdom conclusively appealed the beneficiaries to study well in order to come out in flying colours and secure higher institution’s admission. "I'll pay the first tuition fees for students that scored above 300 in the JAMB examination," he added.

Also, one of the economic pushers in Ikorodu Division and CEO, Homat Group of Schools, Alhaji Olawale Amusa, in his earlier statement urged the beneficiaries to be hardworking and make used of the opportunity by coming out with good JAMB results.

"There is nothing one can achieve in this life unless you work hard. Success can not come easily, you have to work hard before you can achieve it. There is no short cut to success, those that have being into 419, Yahoo and so on later end up in jail. You must be determined and desist from cultism and other act of criminality," Amusa said.

He further applauded the gesture of Hon. SOB Agunbiade, saying he wouldn't have being in this position if he hasn't worked hard. "I am appealing to you all to make use of your early stage to work hard," he added.

Hon. Azeez Olosugbo, a senior legislative Aide to Hon. SOB Agunbiade, also in the same vein enjoined the JAMB forms beneficiaries to be specific and smart in their career. He appealed to the them to be more committed, noting that scoring above 90 percent in the JAMB Examination is achievable.

One of the beneficiaries, Werrah Rafiat, while speaking with MegaXpression correspondent, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker, saying the gesture will impact the lives of people in Ikorodu Division, especially the less privileged.

“This is a privilege to us as students because it lessens the burden on our parents. I will advise others to make use of this opportunity judiciously,” she said.

Also, Bello Olamide, another beneficiary, appreciated the lawmaker for giving him the opportunity to get a free JAMB form. “If I passed the JAMB examination, I will like to study Medicine at the University of Ilorin. “This has really helped parents who could not afford to buy the form,” he said.
