DAINI COMMENCES CLEARING AND DREDGING OF CANALS IN IGBOGBO/BAYEKU LCDA. ...Charges residents to cooperate with his administration by participating actively in cleaning of drainage channels.

Chairman Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, has commenced the clearing and dredging of canals across the LCDA, aimed at reducing cases of flooding in his domain.

Daini, at the Ajewo Canal in Igbogbo today, said to MegaXpression correspondence and other newsmen that the measure was to intensify and sustain his administration’s de-flooding programme consisting of pre-rain, mid-rain and post-rain strategies to provide relief to residents.

"The finalization is going to happen in three places, one is Ajewo carnal and the other one is Ibeshe carnal while the third one is Agunfoye/ Oga-Oloye carnal.

"The Ajewo carnal will solve the flooding around Iwajowa, Oluodo, Igbo Agbowa and this will help Abuja, Akindano, Oshorun, Oke-ota, Origbode anu and Ibeshe areas.

"For Oga-Oloye canal, it will solve the problem around Macaulay, Banjoko and Bayeku road. Agunfoye and some part of Offin road, Awesu and Selewu will equally be flood free", Daini explained.

The Chairman further stated “as we are in the peak of the rainy season, residents should cooperate with the government by participating actively in cleaning of drainage channels in their immediate environment to allow for easy passage of storm water.

”We call on the people of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA to complement the efforts of the government by cleaning tertiary drains/gutters in their frontages and neighbourhood regularly and not only on monthly environmental sanitation days, but on all days,” Daini added.
