As the October 31 Lagos East Senatorial bye-election gets nearer, the All Progressives Congress, APC, is not leaving any stone unturned, as the Party moved the campaign trail to Ikorodu on Friday, the home town of their flagbearer, Mr Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru.
While addressing the mamouth crowd at the Ikorodu town Hall, Mr Tokunbo Abiru, thanked the National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, party leaders, political office holders and members of their great Party, APC, for been in agreement since September 3, by making him the flagbearer of APC in the October 31 Lagos East Senatorial Bye-Election. "I have worked for over thirty two years as an Economist, Charted Accountant, Banker, former Commissioner for Finance and former Executive Director in the oldest bank in Nigeria, and as Managing Director of Skye Bank and Polaris Bank.
"All my knowledge, experience and training during this services is what I will use to work when I become the Senator. I will also use my goodwill and connections to create foundation that will support the youth and many other people," Abiru assured.
Earlier, the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and the present Chairman of Apex body of APC in Ikorodu Division, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, in his opening remarks thanked the party faithfuls for their steadfastness and urged all to be available at the polling centres on the day on election.
Equally, another G.A.C. member and former SSG Lagos State, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, lauded the choice of Tokunbo Abiru as the APC candidate, beseeching every electorates to go out and vote for him on the 31st of October, in order for the voting rate from Ikorodu to go higher than that of the previous one in the past.
House of Reps. Member, representing Ikorodu federal Constituency and Chairman House Committee on Defence, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, said he is glad and happy wholeheartedly for seeing someone who can do more than what he's doing.
"Already, Abiru had called Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, concerning the Ikorodu/Sagamu road, likewise called the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Isawo road, Igbogbo/Igbe road and Sekumade road Ipakodo," Benson revealed.
He therefore urged the people of Ikorodu federal Constituency, who had supported him to vote massively for Tokunbo Abiru during the Lagos East Senatorial Bye-Election on October 31.
The Chairman of the campaign team and Lagos East APC Vice Chairman, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, eloquently appreciated the party stalwarts, noting that the total number of votes that APC is expecting from Ikorodu is one hundred thousand votes.
"If we are able to have one hundred thousands votes, we won't have any issue of marginalization. It would be the beginning of better things to come to Ikorodu. Let's show and translate our efforts here to votes.
"Abiru is a son of a Justice and former Senator with Lateef Jakande, from 1979-1983. He is a man of worthy character and has served meritoriously in the banking sector. All these and more will help in developing our East senatorial," Kaoli explained.
Party leader from Ibeju-lekki, Chief Bode Oyedele, Chairman Nigeria Diaspora Commission and former member, House of Representatives, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, were equally buttressed the point that the effort must be all-inclusive with reasonably aggressive to ensure total and convincing victory for APC, noting that Ikorodu Division must reciprocate the gesture of being gifted with the Party's Candidate, MegaXpression reports.
The event that had the four wall of Ikorodu town hall full to capacity, equally had in attendance, Hon Nurudeen Sholaja-Saka of Ikorodu constituency II, member Seventh Assembly and former Ag. commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, Member Seventh and Eighth Assemblies, Hon. Segun Olulade, former Clerk, Lagos State House of Assembly, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, leaders from Ibeju-lekki, Hon.Tolani Kasali and Chief Bode Oyedele.
