His Royal Majesty, Oba Engr. Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu and the Paramount Ruler, Ikorodu Division, was on Wednesday hosted the Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association, known as NAOWA, at his multi million naira Palace in Ikorodu.
The visit was aimed to pay homage, receive royal blessings and familiarize themselves with the King and particularly good people of Ikorodu community where an arm of the military department is attached, MegaXpression News reports.
While addressing the Ayangburen-in- Council, the NAOWA Chairperson, Mrs. Adesuwa Adebayo, said it is customary that, while the new divisional Chairperson resumes office, she must familiarize herself with the information and relevant establishments within the 81 Division, which justify the purpose of the visit.
"Our noble organization is a non governmental and nonprofit making organization, saddle with the responsibility of uplifting the lives of the less privilege and the vulnerable in our society, most especially the Barrack community.
"Our programmes are carefully designed and targeted at the welfare of women, youth, children and the less privilege. In the same vein, the association reaches out to widows, orphanages, old people homes, hospitals and prisons as a way of bringing succor to them. This programme can only be sustain with much needed supports and contributions towards them," Mrs Adesuwa said.
She further stated that NAOWA is committed in assisting the poor, needy and raising the standard of living in the barracks and host communities.
Mrs Adesuwa equally applauded the uncommon reception given to her members by the paramount ruler of Ikorodu Division, Oba Shotobi.
"My predecessor has told me about the request made during her last visit which she was working on before she left office. But as a results of the pandemic, we have not be able to execute it. Now we are here to say we are working on it and by the special grace of God, we will come back with result very soon," Mrs Adesuwa added.
In his royal remarks, HRM Oba (Engr). Kabir Adewale Shotobi, thanked the members of NAOWA and everyone present at the gathering, pleading with Mrs Adesuwa to make prompt response to the last year request. He then gave his blessings to the members of NAOWA, 174 Battalion and the people of Ikorodu kingdom.
