FRESH AIR IN ISIWU COMMUNITY, AS SANWO-OLU PRESENTS STAFF OF OFFICE TO OBA DAVID OLUKAYODE RAJI. Royal Heads, Council Chairmen, others rejoice with the new monarch.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has presented the staff of office to the new Eweiye of Isiwu Kingdom, Oba David Olukayode Raji Balogun, Olugbade Ifadalamu II, with a pledge to always accord respect to the traditional institution. He said traditional institution remains a major mechanism for good governance through the reconciliatory and advisory roles it plays in society.


The Governor, who was ably represented at the presentation, urged the new monarch to mobilise his subjects for the growth and development of Isiwu in Ikorodu North LCDA. 


Sanwo-Olu stressed the commitment of his administration to always accord respect for traditional institution and carry it along in ensuring peace, progress and development in the state. 


He further explained that the selection of Oba Raji was adjudged smooth, hitch-free and devoid of political influence and manipulation and in line with the provisions of Lagos State Law and the tradition and custom of Isiwu people.


Oba David Olukayode Raji succeeds the last occupant of the Eweiye throne, the late Oba Jimoh Olarinde, who died 15 years ago.


There was excitement in Isiwu community as many eminent personalities, including political office holders, monarchs, senior civil servants and prominent indigenes of Isiwu community, graced the coronation.


In his royal remarks, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu and paramount Ruler of Ikorodu Division, congratulated the new monarch, urging him to accommodate, endure, persevere, tolerate and dutifully lead his subjects in a way that would facilitate and sustain the peace and progress of Isiwu community and Ikorodu Division.


Oba Shotobi, while reiterating his passion for the progress and development of Ikorodu Division, hailed the people of Isiwu town for maintaining decorum, decency and maturity during the selection process.


Oba David Olukayode Raji, in his acceptance speech, commended the selection process that led to his appointment, with an assurance that he would not take the development of Isiwu kingdom for granted.


The new monarch, who explained this to MegaXpression Community News, said he will faithfully discharge his sacred responsibility of preserving the custom and tradition of Isiwu community, promising to carry out reform in palace administration to adequately respond to the needs of his people and foster harmonious relationships among them. 


He appealed to Governor Sanwo-Olu to make use of the vast expanse of land in the town to turn the fortune of the community around.


The Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon Adeola Adebisi Banjo, also felicitated with the new King, Oba David Olukayode Raji, noting that the installation of the new monarch would bring about the needed unity, peace and progress of Isiwu community.


Speaking with MegaXpression correspondence, Banjo explained that the community had demonstrated the desired quality of peaceful and harmonious coexistence in choosing the present Oba.


Banjo appealed to the people of Isiwu to give the new monarch the needed peace and cooperation to move the town forward, calling on them to extend a similar gesture to the governments of Ikorodu North LCDA and Lagos State.


In his eloquent remarks, Prince Emmanuel Olusoji, the Head of the family, Olugbade Ifadalamu Royal Family of Isiwu, said ever since he was born, this is the most happiest moment in the history of Isiwu town, having a recognized monarch appointed by the Lagos State Governor.


"I expect transformation and I believe in Oba Raji because he's a man of action. In few years to come, Isiwu will be a community with peace and tranquility," Prince Olusoji said. 


Also, the General Secretary of Olugbade Ifadalamu Royal Family of Isiwu, Coordinator of the Coronation, Chairman Isiwu Leaders Forum and former Chairman of Isiwu developmental movement, Alhaji Prince Musa Sulaimon Abiodun Babatunde, said, "after all the journey so far, we appreciate and thank the Lord and all the royal fathers, Chiefs and Baales in Ikorodu Division, particularly the Ayangburen of Ikorodu that really stood by us, for making the dream a reality. 


Some of the dignitaries include, His Royal Majesties, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Agoro, Ranodu of Imota, Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Adeoriyomi Oyebo, Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, Oba Richard Ogunsanya, Olubeshe of Ibeshe, Oba Oluwasegun Arowole, Elemuren of Emuren, Oba Bashir Sotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo, High Chiefs, league of Baales, religious and community leaders. 


Others are Hon. Banjo Adeola Adebisi, Chairman  Ikorodu North LCDA, Bldr. Olusesan Mayokun Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, who attended the coronation in the capacity of his aunty, Olori Tusan Raji, from Otungbuwa family in Igbogbo, amongst other notable personalities.
