DEACONESS BUSOLA ELIZABETH ISIKALU EMERGES NEW IYALOJA GENERAL OF IKORODU. | Shakiru Seidu. ...As Ayangburen of Ikorodu commends selection process.


His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen Of Ikorodu Kingdom, on Friday, December 8, 2023, announced the appointment of Deaconess Busola Elizabeth Isikalu, as the new Iyaloja General of Ikorodu. The pronouncement was made at the  Palace of Ayangburen of Ikorodu after a thorough screening amongst the Contestants.

The Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Otunba (Sir) Ayodele Elesho, in his early remarks emphasized on the significance of unity and collaboration among the market leaders, while congratulating the newly appointed Iyaloja General of Ikorodu. “I urged everyone who contested for the post to work together with the new Iya Oloja. We can’t have two winners; we will surely end up with one,” Elesho opined.

In his royal remarks, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, expressed gratitude to all present, while acknowledging the efforts of the Screening Committee for being prompt and transparent.

The Monarch further urged all market men and women to give maximum support to the newly appointed Iyaloja General for the upliftment of Ikorodu Markets and the economic growth of Ikorodu Division to new height.

In her appreciative words, the newly Iya Oloja General of Ikorodu, Chief Busola Isikalu, thanked the Kabiyesi, Chiefs and market women and men for the great opportunity giving her to serve, assuring to give her best and work towards the enhancement of economic development of Ikorodu Division, MegaXpression reports.

Chief Busola Isikalu was born in Ikorodu on 19th January, 1976, to a Descendant of Shobote Family from Shogba Compound in Ijomu and Itunmoja. Her father, Chief Oluremilekun Shobote, is also the Alashe of Oke-Eletu from the Shogba Family Ruling House. Her mother, Madam Aderonke A. Ota, is from Ile-Ota Compound, Itunmoja and Adeyeri Compound, Itunwolo.

She is a business tycoon and trader. Busola is the Chief Executive Officer of Busiq Fabrics, the largest importer and wholesaler of textile products in Ikorodu and environs. Busiq, as she is fondly called started her education at the Salvation Army Primary School before proceeding to Ikorodu High School for her secondary education where she obtained her SSCE.

She has earned the reputation of being one of the largest importers and marketers of quality textiles in the country with several wholesale stores concentrated in Ikorodu, significantly contributing to the economic potentials and growth of Ikorodu Division.

Busola Isikalu started trading in 1991 venturing into children’s wears at the popular Ladega Market. She gradually transformed the business from a small-scale business into a multi-million naira investment today.

In light of the fact that hundreds of local consumers from across Lagos State, as well as from other states in Nigeria throng the Ankara and lace markets on the Lagos Island every day to transact deals worth millions of naira, Busola Isikalu discovered the huge potentials and prospects in the Ikorodu market that remained untapped by traders and business people operating within the division and decided to leverage this opportunity to develop and grow the industry instead of moving the business to Lagos.

Due to her love for the Ikorodu market, in February 2022, she consolidated her investment by building a new ultra-modern plaza and showroom that can warehouse tonnes of fabrics at the busy Alhaji Street which was commissioned by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi.

Busiq Fabrics has an international and local patronage of clients including organizations such as Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Igbogbo Development Association (I.D.E.A), Imota Ayayo Development Association, Ipakodo Development Association and Ajede Day Committee. She has been supplying tonnes of fabrics to these organizations over the years for celebrations such as, Ikorodu Oga Day Celebrations, Ayayo Day, Igbogbo Day, Ipakodo Day, Ajede Luwasa Day, etc. Busiq Fabrics has also been servicing the demands of various retailers and entrepreneurs in Ikorodu due to affordable prices and access to other facilities offered them at Busiq Fabrics.

Her most valued possession is the salvation of her soul. She was ordained by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye as a Deaconess of The Redeemed Christian Church of God in August 2021. She is a philanthropist and always supporting charitable causes which include; the annual Ayangburen Spelling Bee Competition, donation to orphanages, etc.

Her charitable support to several Islamic causes and mosques has earned her an admiration within the Muslim Community. In December 2022, she was given an award of recognition by the Ajoke Olwanisola Central Mosque, Itamaga

She is a recipient of numerous awards and recognitions. She is the Matron of Ikorodu Association of Alaga Iduro and also the Alatileyin (Pillar) of Egbe Gbogeniyi of Ikorodu Kingdom. She is the Matron of Purple House at the annual Inter House Sport Festival of Etunreren Primary School Ikorodu. She is  also the immediate past treasurer of Ladega Market Ikorodu.

Deaconess Isikalu is married to Prince Oluwalogbon Isikalu and the union is blessed with four beautiful children who are making them proud across the globe. Her hobbies include praying, partying, travelling and listening to good music.
