COMMENDATION AS ADEOLA BANJO FLAGS OFF CONSTRUCTION OF ODOGUNYAN -IDERA BRIDGE/ AGBEDE OLOSUGBO ROAD IN IKORODU NORTH. | Shakiru Seidu.

It was commendations and praises galore for the Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Adeola Adebisi Banjo all through, from the elated residents and Community leaders, when the Chairman broke the jinx by flagging off the construction of the Odogunyan-Idera Bridge/ Agbede Olosugbo Road in Ikorodu North LCDA.

The event which was well-attended by notable stakeholders, began on a high note with the ecstatic women’s wing of the All Progressives Congress party of Ikorodu North LCDA welcoming guests with melodious songs.

The Host Councillor, Hon. Abimbola Adaramola, welcomed everyone to the occasion and highlighted numerous projects being executed by the Banjọ-led administration across Ikorodu North LCDA, receiving applause from all guests present.

The Council Engineer, Engr. (Mrs.) Kehinde Adeoye, then took the stage to provide a detailed analysis of the project. She outlined the project’s features, including a 460-meter stretch of road on both sides of the bridge. She mentioned that considering the topography of the road, the council had resolved to use paving stones technology, with the stones being 8mm in thickness. She further disclosed that there would be drainages on both sides of the road and the entire stretch would have street lights for security. This comprehensive plan was warmly applauded by the happy audience.

Following her, the former Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA and current Chairman of the All Progressives Congress for Ikorodu division, Hon. Olasunkanmi Tijani, expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Lagos State for his support, enabling the council to execute this project. 

He thanked the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Adéọlá Adébisi Banjọ, for his commitment to the local council’s growth, and extended gratitude to the council officials for supporting the Chairman. He implored the residents of the beneficiary communities to translate this good gesture of government into voting massively for the party in future elections. He advised that they cooperate with the council and the project’s contractor to ensure timely delivery of the project.

The Secretary of the All Progressives Congress for Lagos State and former Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Dr. Adeola Jokomba, urged the people of the communities to remain faithful to the party. He highlighted that all public office holders they voted in, from the Senator to the Representative at the House of Reps to the Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, have all been delivering on their electoral promises to the people.

The Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA’s Community Development Committee, Prince Niran Ogunbanwo, expressed his joy that their years-long efforts at bringing relief to users of the unmotorable road are finally bearing fruit. 

He thanked the Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA for his kind consideration and the entire council management for cooperating with the Chairman to bring the project to the community. He assured the council and the project’s contractor that there would be no disturbances during the project’s execution. 

Diran further announced that dredging work would begin in earnest in the entire environment with the concerted efforts of the council and the MHR representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson. He also advised the community to desist from indiscriminate disposal of waste.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, Alhaji Hussein, Chairman of the Joint CDAs for Odogunyan Idera, thanked the Chairman and the entire management of Ikorodu North LCDA for this gesture and assured them of the community’s cooperation.

In his eloquent speech, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Adéọlá Adébisi Banjọ, acknowledged the challenges faced by various areas of Ikorodu North and assured that he and his team are working on them. He emphasized that he prefers to let results speak for his efforts rather than merely talking about them. 

He stressed that Agbede-Idera is just one of several areas where the council’s interventions are ongoing, including various infrastructural development projects across other wards in Ikorodu North LCDA and the local council secretariat. He reiterated his promise that 2024 is Ikorodu North LCDA’s year of infrastructural renewal. 

The Chairman also appreciated the efforts of CDC Chairman, Prince Niran Ogunbanwo, for being a reliable link between the council management and the communities in Ikorodu North, and he expressed gratitude to the persevering people of Agbede.

The event saw the presence of other notable personalities, including Vice-Chairman Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile, Leader of the Council’s legislative arm Hon. Ayo Adekoya, SLG Hon. Niyi Odugbesi; all the Supervisory Councillors; Council Manager Mrs. Oluranti Adeyemi, traditional rulers, and other LCDA officials.

Also at the event were Hon. Kunle Ogunbela, former Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, and a host of APC Ikorodu North party leadership.

This groundbreaking event signifies a significant leap forward in fulfilling the administration’s promises, showcasing their unwavering commitment to the development and prosperity of Ikorodu North LCDA.
