It was a day of reckoning on Friday, as Senator Abiru Innovative Lab, SAIL Empowerment Foundation, staged another monumental event in advancing education, as 4,000 educators graduated from the SAIL Teachers Fellowship Training Program, held at the SAIL Innovation Lab in Ipakodo, Ikorodu, Lagos.
This initiative, was said to be co-created by Senator Abiru and his dear wife, Mrs Feyisara Abiru, under the SAIL Empowerment Foundation, in collaboration with the MTN Foundation and Re-learn by CcHub, trained 6,417 educators across Nigeria, while equipped them with innovative tools and techniques to revolutionize learning in their classrooms.
The program unfolded in two phases: a virtual training for over 6,000 teachers and an intensive, hands-on mentorship for 400 top-performing participants. These teachers are now equipped to foster creativity, critical thinking, and engagement among their students.
"The testimonies we’ve received affirm the transformative power of this initiative. Classrooms are evolving into spaces of curiosity and innovation, touching the lives of thousands of Nigerian students.
"This program underscores our steadfast commitment to human capital development and educational advancement. We aim to scale this initiative further, with continued support from the MTN Foundation and other private-sector partners.
"To our graduating teachers, take pride in your achievements today, but remember that this is only the beginning. Use these skills to shape and empower your communities and aspire to be the change-makers who will not only inspire the next generation but redefine Nigeria’s role on the global stage," Abiru stated, while addressing the gathering.
"Together, we are not just improving education but investing in an innovative and prosperous future for our nation," he added
Meanwhile, the APC Chairman, Lagos State, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, praised Abiru’s initiative, calling it a milestone in human capacity development. “This is exemplary leadership, showcasing what the APC stands for—rewarding hardwork and empowering people to thrive,” he remarked.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr Tolani Sule, also highlighted the program’s alignment with Lagos State’s digital transformation agenda. “While we upgrade physical infrastructure, we are also raising the quality of teaching delivery through digitalization. This is a deliberate move to position Lagos as a leader in technology-driven education and Lagos state as government commend this initiative and celebrate with the graduated teachers,” He stated.
The traditional rulers equally lauded the fellowship’s ripple effects on students and teachers while responding to MegaXpression Correspondence. Mr. Timothy, the CcHub’s representative, also noted that the initiative equipped teachers to transform classrooms into hubs of creativity and innovation, guaranteeing better learning outcomes.
