IJEDE LCDA OPENS MAGNIFICENT YEYE FAUSAT GBADEBO LEGISLATIVE, CUSTOMARY COURT BUILDING. ...As Party Chieftains, Chief Judge, Others applaud Motunrayo's led Administration.
The Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has inaugurated a Legislative and Customary Court building. The building was named in honour of the Pioneer Chairman of the Council and former Lagos East APC Women Leader, Late Yeye Fausat Gbadebo.
The Chairman of the Council, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba said the building of the Legislative and Customary Court is aimed to provide space and opportunity for legislators to perform their duties as enshrined in the constitution for government to function effectively.
According to her: “What we have done today is to institutionalise arms of government and one of the functions of legislative arms is for formulation of bye-laws and bye-laws are what determines policies, so without proper law, execution and implementation, without proper feedback from the communities, and stakeholders meetings, there cannot be good governance. Same to the judicial system.
“Today marks a momentous occasion as we commission this magnificent Legislative and Customary Court Building. The new structure would inspire unity, productivity, and more effective decision-making among councillors and members of the Customary Court."
The Chairman further highlighted her administration’s achievements since her re-election, noting that in education, the council has introduced free summer coaching for pupils, distributed annual Back-to-School packs, and organized an annual Spelling Bee Competition.
She pointed out that the council completed and furnished the new Legislative House and Customary Court, constructed and rehabilitated multiple school buildings, fenced and painted school premises, and improved sanitation facilities across various primary schools.
"The LCDA has intensified environmental sanitation and carried out extensive drainage desilting and channelization across numerous streets and communities. Also, health sector has received attention through free breast and cervical cancer screenings in partnership with the Ani Okonkwo Foundation, the introduction of e-birth registration, and campaigns on sexual and domestic violence awareness.
"On Staff welfare, we have supported various training programmes and upgraded the staff clinic with functional medical services. We have enhanced community development through events such as the first Ijede Tourism Day Celebration, along with support for annual cultural festivals.
"Meanwhile, the transportation within the LCDA has improved significantly with the launch of LAGFERRY service connecting Ijede to Falomo, CMS, and Ebute-Ero, as well as the provision of mini-buses for intra-community movement," she narrated.
The Chairman thereafter appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for policies that strengthened local government autonomy and increased the council’s ability to utilize its allocations effectively.
She also thanked the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for continuous support under the THEMES+ Agenda, which has contributed to the infrastructural growth of Ijede LCDA.
In his royal remarks, the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) AbdulAkeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo, expressed admiration for the quality and standard of the new edifice and offered prayers for continued development. While the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, commended the Chairman on the magnificent project and emphasized its importance to justice delivery and community growth.
Members of the Governance Advisory Council, GAC, in attendance, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Otunba Femi Pedro, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and the APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, were all applauded Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba for her quality service delivery.
They praised the steady progress recorded in Ijede so far and encouraged the Chairman to sustain her developmental efforts. Adding that the phase 2 of Igbodu to Ijede road needs an urgent attention, while pleading with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in this regard.
The Lagos House of Assembly member, representing Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro, AMA, also praised the Chairman’s achievements across multiple sectors and assured his constituents of more good things to come.
The Council Manager, Mrs. Oluwafemi Martins delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the Chairman’s dedication and expressing gratitude to all dignitaries who attended the ceremony.
