LG CHAIRMAN, HON. SUNDAY AYODELE BENSON ENGAGES YOUTH OF IMOTA LCDA, ENCOURAGES ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE.
The Executive Chairman, Imota LCDA, Hon. Sunday Ayodele Benson, has joined the global community in marking this year’s International Youth Day by engaging the youth of Imota LCDA, while commending their energy, creativity, and resilience.
On Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the NS Sho Multipurpose Hall Imota, Benson described the Imota youth as “the heartbeat of innovation, community service, and nation-building”, emphasising that they are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also the driving force of today.
“Our youths are the changemakers of our time. My administration remains firmly committed to equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive in an ever-changing world,” he said.
The Chairman further made a financial support of fifty thousand naira (₦50,000) each to six undergraduate students from Imota LCDA to support their schooling and encourage academic excellence. "To all our youth leaders, I congratulate you on the Award of Excellence and celebrate you every day. I pledge to continue supporting you and working harder to ensure that our youths find purpose beyond the streets.
"This initiative is just the beginning. I will continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth of our communities and the development of youths across Imota LCDA. I urge the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money. Together, let's continue to make Imota LCDA greater," Benson opined.
He thereafter reaffirmed his administration’s partnerships with the private sector, development agencies, and global institutions to further expand mentorship opportunities, and innovation hubs for Imota’s young innovators and change-makers.
“As we celebrate International Youth Day, I call on our young people to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their dreams. Together, we will build Imota LCDA, Lagos State and a Nigeria that truly reflects the aspirations of its vibrant youth population,” Benson enjoined the youth.
The event which witnessed an insightful address by the keynote speaker, Dr. Samson Olusegun Oyefolu PhD, was moderated by Comrade Micheal Stephen Okereke. The MC, Mr. Dina Oluwafemi Olaide, and the panelists - Comrade Olalekan Biliamin Oba, Amb. Alabi Opeyemi Oladimeji, Comrade Olumide A. Shofowora, and Senator Comfort Oladunni Olafare, who was ably represented by Mrs. Jemiseye Esther.
Notable guests in attendance include Hon. Nurudeen Saka-Solaja, Professor Shakiru Abiodun Okedeyi, Chief Sadiq Ahmed Oluwarotimi, Chief Adesoji Adeoye, CS Adejo Adekunle, Hon. Moshood Yinusa, among other dignitaries.
