APC YOUTH WING IN WEST AFRICA BACKS PRESIDENT TINUBU'S SECOND-TERM AT ACCRA TOWN HALL, GHANA. ...Reaffirms Diaspora Youth Commitment in Nigeria.
The West Africa chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing has formally endorsed Nigerian President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for a second term, signalling growing mobilisation among Nigerian youths in the diaspora ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced at a Youth Town Hall Meeting held in Accra, Ghana, which drew together party youth leaders, government officials, cultural figures and Nigerian youths resident across several West African countries.
Organised under the theme “Back Home, Still Involved,” the forum underscored the determination of diaspora youths to remain engaged in Nigeria’s political and developmental affairs despite living outside the country.
Discussions at the meeting centred on youth mobilisation, leadership responsibility and sustained civic participation, with participants describing the engagement as timely as preparations gradually begin towards the next national elections. Speakers noted that the Town Hall had reignited interest among Nigerian youths abroad to contribute meaningfully to governance, party organisation and national development.
The organisers also highlighted the growing footprint of the APC Youth Wing West Africa, which currently has operational chapters in Togo, Benin Republic and Côte d’Ivoire. Plans are underway to establish new secretariats in Lagos, Accra and Benin Republic, a move expected to strengthen coordination and deepen youth mobilisation across the sub-region.
Addressing the gathering, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, stressed the importance of inclusive political platforms that give young people a voice in governance. He described Nigerian youths in the diaspora as a vital constituency whose engagement strengthens democracy and reinforces a sense of shared national responsibility beyond Nigeria’s borders.
Similarly, the APC Youth Leader in Lagos State, Hon. (Dr.) Muritala Ishola Seriki, urged young people to move from political awareness to active participation. He emphasised mobilisation, discipline and consistency as essential elements for democratic consolidation and political continuity within the party.
Speaking on behalf of the APC Youth Wing West Africa, the Coordinator and Director of Operations and Logistics, Hon. Adewale Bolowotan, said the Accra meeting demonstrated that Nigerian youths abroad remain firmly connected to political developments at home. He described the engagement as a strategic step towards building a structured and sustainable diaspora youth network.
The event also attracted notable public figures, including veteran Nollywood actor Mr Saheed Balogun, actor and youth mobiliser Mr Lege Miami, and APC stakeholder Alhaji Fowosere, who all encouraged young Nigerians to remain informed, purposeful and actively involved in nation-building.
A key moment of the Town Hall was the unanimous endorsement of President Tinubu’s second-term bid. Youth leaders cited ongoing reforms, youth-focused programmes and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda as justification for their support, pledging to mobilise Nigerian youths across West Africa in backing the President’s vision.
In his closing remarks, the Director-General of the APC Youth Wing West Africa, Hon. Gideon Olatunde Igbasan, described the Accra Town Hall as a defining moment for diaspora youth participation. He pointed to initiatives such as NELFUND, the 3 Million Technical Talent Programme, TVET and SUPA, CREDITCORP, housing support through MREIF, and job-creation reforms as evidence of what he described as tangible youth-centred governance, urging young people to protect these gains through registration, mobilisation and active participation ahead of 2027.
Organisers said the Accra Town Hall marked the beginning of a sustained regional engagement drive, with similar forums planned across West Africa to consolidate diaspora youth involvement in Nigeria’s political process.
