The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ikorodu Branch, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, held an engagement and sensitisation meeting to mobilise its Members on the ongoing APC E-Registration Exercise, as Otunba Waliu Daisi, charged members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While addressing the gathering, Otunba Waliu Daisi stated that the purpose of the engagement was to sensitise NURTW Members on the importance of participating in the APC E-Registration Exercise and collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
He emphasised that although NURTW members are traditionally aligned with the APC, it is important to formalise their membership by capturing their details in the party’s official registration archive.
Otunba Daisi further commended the leadership of the NURTW State Chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle SEGO, highlighting several welfare initiatives and achievements since assuming office. He noted that the Chairman has improved members’ welfare significantly, symbolising better leadership and care.
In the same vein, Comrade Gbenga Laketu, a member of the State Executive Council, while responding to MegaXpression Correspondence, commended the presence of members, describing the engagement as a first of its kind. He noted that NURTW commands a massive workforce, with some branch Chairmen supervising thousands of members, and assured that the union would ensure total registration of its members.
Laketu reiterated the union’s slogan of mutual support, stressing that the APC-led government in Lagos State has provided an enabling environment for transport workers. He pledged the union’s unwavering support for the APC in future elections, describing President Tinubu as a father figure to the Association.
In their separate remarks, other Unit Chairmen equally expressed commitment to the APC and readiness of their members to key into the ongoing APC E-Registration Exercise.
The APC Chairman, Ikorodu Central, also charged union leaders to mobilise and guide their members effectively, stressing the need for Ikorodu to record one of the highest registration turnouts.
The APC E-Registration was thereafter conducted peacefully one after the other for members who are yet to register.
