2027: IKOSI-EJINRIN VOW TO RESIST IMPOSED CANDIDATE FOR LAGOS ASSEMBLY. ...Appeals to Party Leaders for equity and Justice.
A political group in Ikosi-Ejinrin, Lagos State, has made a case for Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA to produce the next House of Assembly Member to represent Epe Constituency ll, in the 2027 general elections, citing equity, justice and fair play.
The Coordinator, Apostle Lekan Lucas, said it's the turn of Ikosi-Ejinrin to produce the next candidate, after eight years completion of Eredo LCDA, adding that “equity, fairness and justice demand that the next Lawmaker for Epe Constituency ll should come from Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA”.
Lucas also faulted an alleged plot by some politicians to compromise the agreement despite existing agreement, warning that such a move would be resisted. The Coordinator, who made this known in a Press Conference on Monday, also rejected a consensus arrangement, citing the past and present served House of Assembly members since 1999.
● Rt. Hon. Waheed Jokotola Pelumi - Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
● Hon. Shakirudeen Adebanjo - Johnbull - Eredo LCDA.
● Hon. Olulade Olusegun Ganiu - Ikosi-Ejinrin. 2011 to 2019. (Two Terms) as per agreement.
According to him, "It is a well agreed documented fact that the APC Party in Eredo LCDA and Ikosi Ejinrin LCDA have maintained a long standing equity, justice, fairness and rotation of key political offices, among the two:- Eredo LCDA and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA to foster inclusion and stability for enduring democracy.
"Our Grievances are but not limited: Other zones that had already served or about completing two terms are vying for the position into Lagos State House of Assembly this upcoming election, contrary to the rotation agreement which dictates that elective position will now move to Ikosi Ejinrin LCDA, representing Epe constituency 11 in Lagos State House of Assembly for the upcoming 2027 election.
"This attempt to truncate the zoning formula is a direct violation of principle of fair play and could threaten the unity of our party in Eredo & Ikosi Ejinrin LCDA'S and Lagos State in particular.
"Ingnoring the zoning arrangement has historically led to voter's aparty and dissatisfaction, as seen in the past, which could jeopardise our party chances in the general election. Direct the Screening Committee to disqualify any aspirant who does not originate from Ikosi Ejinrin LCDA in line with established rotation arrangement for fairness and equity.
"We respectfully seek our Apex Leaders intervention in Ikosi Ejirin LCDA, whom we have confidence in their rightful decisions to affirm based on the zoning agreement, Ikosi Ejinrin LCDA is to present candidate for elective position into Lagos State House of Assembly this upcoming 2027 election.
"We in Ikosi Ejinrin LCDA are not ready to compromise or negotiate our legitimate rights. Enough is Enough, Let the internal evil perpetrators or sponsors retract their steps."
The group thereafter urged the Party Leaders to be fsir and just, while reiterating their commitment to the Success of the APC, but believe that Success is rooted in Justice, Fairness and Equity.
