GBOLAHAN OGUNLEYE REPLIES CRITICS WITH UNPRECEDENTED ACHIEVEMENTS SINCE 2023. ...Reiterates commitment of quality representation to Constituents.

The House of Assembly Member, representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, has rolled out superlative achievements to Constituents, since assumed office since 2023, while reiterating his commitment to quality representation.

Ogunleye made this know through a press release made available to MegaXpression Media, by his Media crew on Saturday, March 7, 2026. The release goes this:

"Honourable Ogunleye has consistently exercised these constitutional functions:

"He has represented his constituents’ priorities in the Assembly and through stakeholders’ engagements, ensuring that issues such as roads, electricity access, health, and education are elevated to the state level for action.

"He has actively contributed to the passage of significant laws that underpin social, economic, and environmental development in Lagos State.

"He has overseen and advocated for the inclusion of constituency needs in the state’s planning processes, regularly engaging ministries and state agencies to ensure effective follow-up on projects.

"Through consistent constituency meetings, he has facilitated direct communication between residents and government decision-makers, a key aspect of representative accountability.

"This separation of roles is not a limitation but a fundamental feature of our democratic governance. By actively fulfilling his legislative duties, while working constructively with executive agencies to secure developmental interventions, Honourable Ogunleye has upheld both the letter and spirit of his constitutional mandate.

"Our commitment is not seasonal. It is ongoing. Honourable Ogunleye does not subscribe to governance by noise or publicity stunts.
He firmly believes that representation is a duty, not a spectacle.

"All of the interventions listed above were executed without aggressive media amplification because he considers them part of his natural constitutional responsibility — not campaign tools. The people of Ikorodu Constituency1 deserve thoughtful representation, and that is the standard we will continue to uphold.

"Clarification on the Role of a Legislator vs. the Executive
To properly evaluate the performance of an elected representative, it is important to understand the constitutional responsibilities of each arm of government in our democratic system.

The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria clearly outlines the functions of the various branches of government. The Executive Arm, headed at the state level by the Governor and supported by Commissioners and Ministries, is constitutionally empowered with the machinery of implementation — including budget execution, project delivery, contract awards, and deployment of physical resources that translate policies into action on the ground.

In contrast, the Legislative Arm, in which Honourable Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo serves as a Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has distinct and vital duties that include:

1. Representation — articulating the needs and interests of constituents within the State Legislature.

2. Law-making — drafting, debating, and passing laws that establish the legal frameworks within which government operates.

3. Oversight — monitoring and supervising the activities of the Executive to ensure accountability, proper use of public funds, and alignment with constitutional mandates.

4. Budget Approval and Advocacy — contributing to the budgeting process by ensuring that deserving community priorities are reflected and funded in the state’s annual budget

"Unlike the Executive and the National Assembly that has rights and access to Counstituency projects and allowances, a Lagos State Legislator does not have a construction or project-execution budget of their own; they cannot directly build roads or install transformers. Their influence comes from persuading, advocating, and collaborating with the Executive to ensure that state resources are allocated in ways that benefit their constituency.

Above facts can be checked and verified .

Honourable Prince Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo (OGA), the son of HE Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, our GAC Leader and dye in the wool politician from the very noble and respected Rademo Ruling House in Ikorodu.
