AVOIDABLE CONTROVERSY BREWING ON ONE LAGOS FIESTA IN IKORODU DIVISION. | Shakiru Seidu.

One Lagos Fiesta is indeed attaining general acceptability in Ikorodu Division, hence the uproar manifesting at different corners regarding venues and some other trivial issues that can easily be amicably resolved through conscientious dialogue are not acceptable.

Basically, this programme, One Lagos Fiesta that is generating all manner of hiccups was opined to be a symbol of unity to promote love, harmony and peaceful coexistence in Ikorodu Division and Lagos State at large. Why the unwarranted affirmations? Are these bourne out of love, superiority superfliciousness or clear conscience? The fact of the matter is that, what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. In my candid opinion, I feel adequate considerations had been made before arriving at the Cherubim and Seraphim Primary School/Govt. College Ikorodu, in which change of venues happened in Epe and Lagos Island Divisions respectively without any issues. I therefore appeal for smooth collaboration in the best interest of the good people of Ikorodu Division and for the sake of love and unity.

However, it saddens my heart when I see series of aspersions, derogatory remarks, malicious statements being unleashed on the person of the Ag. Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Lagos State and the Oluomo of Igbogbo Kingdom, Hon. Mrs. Adebimpe Akinsola who turned down the option of Igbogbo Sports Stadium as the venue for this year's One Lagos Fiesta to avoid this kind of issue. It is true that unease lies the head that wears the crown. If people failed to reach a consensus on issues like this, it is what often gives birth to zoning formula. If there are 5 LCDAs in Ikorodu division, what stops the government from shifting the venues. Other LCDAs should be given opportunity to experience programmes that will open their LCDA to development like One Lagos Fiesta.

Ikorodu Division is beginning to enjoy the long lost love and charity now than ever. Any form of hostility and hate speeches will lead us nowhere on a programme slated for few days. Nobody should allow him or herself to be used by anyone to cause conflict in Ikorodu Division. Hostility of the past has dragged us aground for too long. There is need for more of synergy, love and cooperation now to jointly uplift Ikorodu Division.

In a nutshell, I humbly appeal to the elderstatesmen in Ikorodu Division to wade into the matter before it degenerate into stigmatization that we may never recover from. There was an initiative a visioner who felt the need to unite Lagosians. We should be thinking towards exporting One Lagos Fiesta to the other parts of the world not to be consumed with envy, hatred and unwarranted agitations.

Ajuse dede eni o, Ikorodu Division ni boje oo. Amin.
