The annual Imota Ayayo Day Celebration of this year ended in a grand style on Saturday, 23rd of December 2017. Series of sociocultural events had taken place before the grand finale that turned the events to the talk of the town.
The occasion was characterized by various demonstration and presentations that arrested the attention of the guests. Prominent personalities within and outside Imota were not left out of the life long experience which binds the people of the community together.
In his eloquent speech, the Chairman of the occasion, Hon Sikiru A. Osinowo, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Kosofe Constituency I, who was ably represented by Hon. Nurudeen Saka Solaja, Oluomo of Imota and Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ikorodu Constituency II, appreciated the Planning committee, Members of Imota Ayayo Development Association, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, Ranodu of Imota and the entire residents of Imota for staging a historical celebration. He therefore charged all and sundry to embrace love and unity in order to uphold the legacy on which Imota was built.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Mudashiru Bakare Agoro, Ranodu of Imota, in his remarks said, "This year's Imota Ayayo day marks the 31st anniversary of the annual event and it has been sustained till date, this year's anniversary is a remarkable event due to the developmental strides following the setting up of different projects in the town. In the history of Imota, my reign has been witnessing tremendous developmental change that includes: the relocation of mile 12 market that is still in progress, another rice processing Mill which is two and half times capacity of the current Mill, has been scheduled to be situtated along Ebute-Ajebo road and the Mill upon completion will serves as the biggest Rice processing Mill in West Africa, the King added.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who was ably represented by Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives, Lagos state, in his goodwill message reiterated the commitment of Lagos State Government towards the infrastructural development, and ensuring good governance to the people of Imota and Lagos State at large.
The federal Lawmaker, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Benson, in his eloquent remarks applauded the leadership qualities of Ranodu of Imota, Chiefs, political leaders and religious leaders. He appreciated the support getting from Imota, now and years to come.
In the same vein, the Chairman, Imota LCDA, Prince Wasiu Kunle Agoro assured Imota Ayayo Development Association of his unalloyed support towards the subsequent celebration of Ayayo Day.
