A Stakeholders Meeting was held today, December 22, 2017 in the Palace of Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, and attended by a cross section of Igbogbo residents, viz traditional Chiefs, Honorary Chiefs, Religious Leaders, Heads of various traditional institutions, Clubs and Associations, Market men and women associations etc.
The meeting was informed about the demolition of structures along the route of the new super highway: Igbogbo - Bola Ahmed Tinubu - Igbe Road. At the meeting, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and the Lagos State Government was given loud ovation and highly commended on the laudable project. Deep sympathy was expressed for those affected by the demolition exercise and praised for their courage and rare act of patriotism for their fatherland.
However, the meeting heard with greatest displeasure, the negative action of a Prince in Igbogbo in opposing steps so far taken in the prosecution of the project. The meeting unequivocally condemned the action of this individual and saw him as being ON HIS OWN.
It was then unanimously resolved as follows :
1. That the Kabiyesi, Chiefs and the entire people of Igbogbo Kingdom express profuse thanks to His Excellency, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, the Governor of Lagos State for approving and embarking on construction of a Super Highway of over 7 kilometers to pass through the heart of Igbogbo kingdom and budge out at Igbe axis adjoining Ijede road.
2. That the entire Community supports and stand by the government in its current phase (demolition of structures), which in local parlance at Igbogbo is now regarded as "PAIN".
3. That Igbogbo Community embraces the Construction of the road (Igbogbo - Bola Ahmed Tinubu - Igbe), and believes the completion of the project is the "GAIN", again in the current local parlance.
4. That the cooperative attitude and act of forbearance of the citizenry since the demolition phase began last week monday , December 11, 2017 is an eloquent testimony to their belief that the present PAIN will later bring GAIN.
5. That we have emphasized the various at meetings that the State Government would not delay payment of compensation to those affected in the demolition exercise. We hereby passionately plead that the government should give this a priority attention.
6. That we pledge our continued and unalloyed loyalty to the Governor and the Government, and shall not shirk in our responsibilities to keep the peace, absolute perfect peace in Igbogbo.
