For the second time in a roll, the Lagos State have its Street Carnival, an annual event that was introduced last year December to showcase the State’s potential for Tourism, Arts and culture on a global level.
This year’s edition, as it was covered by MegaXpression Magazine, was spectacular and it's showcased an impressive line-up of engaging activities on Sunday, December 3rd, at Oba Akran Road, Ikeja.
The Carnival aimed to meet up with the standard of notable and established international carnivals around the world with the participation of the 57 Local Councils and different cultural troupes in colourful costumes, design and animation in a controlled procession including floats along the stretch of Oba Akran Road, Ikeja.
According to the Yoruba movie star, Yomi Fash Lanso and the rest of the Judges, Itire/Ikate, Igbogbo/Bayeku and Ojokoro LCDAs won the trophies for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in the parades.
Among those that paraded were the 57 LGs and LCDAs, Tiv group from Benue State, Galaxy Beauty, Bountiful Beginning, A+ Disciples, Eyo group, formal Education, Creative economy group, Stride/achievement group, the Igbo community, among others.
A concert was followed immediately after the parade which featured prominent Artistes such as Olamide, Lil Kesh, Humblesmith, Salawa Abeni, Saheed Osupa, Malaika, Terry G and several DJs to add musical spice to the Carnival.
It was an eventful programme as the Carnival also offers entrepreneurs and corporate brands the opportunity to exhibit and market their products and services. Activities and side attractions during the event include; outdoor games, kiddies corner, bouncing castle, rodeo bull, carousels and much more.
The essence of the Lagos Street Carnival is to create an avenue for people to have fun, unwind and network as it is done in other parts of the world, this was the statement of Ag. Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola when speaking with Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine.
In his eloquent remark, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, who was ably represented by his Deputy, Dr. Idiat Adebule, expressed happiness and congratulated the people of Lagos State for witnessing this year's festive period. This festival actually strengthened and unified the people of Lagos State and it's aimed to give the best and enhance the economy of the State, Gov. Ambode remarked.
