IGBOGBO/BAYEKU LCDA CELEBRATES COMMUNITY DAY 2017 ALONGSIDE OTHER COUNCILS IN LAGOS STATE | Shakiru Seidu. ....We know deep in our hearts, that the struggle for development has not been easy. -Ambode

Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, on Wednesday, 6th of December, 2017, at Igbogbo Sports Stadium, joined its counterparts in Lagos State to celebrate this year's Community Day festival. The celebration which kicked off with the welcome address by the CDC Chairman, Elder M.O.A Olowu, thereafter, Mr Titilayo Adegboyega, Vice Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, applauded the leadership skills of Gov. Ambode and the quality representation of Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola. He therefore urged for continuous partnership between the CDC and  the LCDA.

Immediately after the parade from the CDAs, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, who was ably represented by High Chief Tajudeen Onasanya, Odofin of Igbogbo, implored effective corporation between the CDAs and CDC. He urged the Local Council to involve CDAs in their governance. Chief Odofin further expressed displeasure with some CDAs who are yet to pay for the security charges.

The Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Com. Olusesan Daini, in his address thanked Gov. Ambode and the Governor emeritus, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the road to be constructed in Igbogbo and Squadron 63 newly situated in Igbogbo. He urged people of Igbogbo community to embrace development concerning the road construction and shun any form of protest against development.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, in his eloquent address through the Acting Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, said, It is my pleasure to join millions of our people as we troop out en-masse to celebrate ourselves. Community day has been set aside to take stock of the journey we have travelled so far in our determination to bring development to our neighbourhood, while it is easy to look back and thank God for what we have achieved, we know deep in our hearts, that the struggle for development has not been easy.

On this occasion of the 2017 Community Day, we have further decentralised the event to upscale popular participation and reverse the old-age tradition of seeing power from above in the best spirit of democracy, the power of the people comes from the base, Gov. Ambode added.

The construction of Igbogbo/Igbe road will enhance investors and benefit the residents of Igbogbo community, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola explained when addressing the audience. Some sacrifices need to be made to aid development, I implore the victim of house demolition to exercise patience, corporate with the government and prepare proper documents for compensation, she added.

When speaking with MegaXpression Magazine, Hon Akinsola further ensured that the Lagos State Government is trying to provide an enabling environment for the convenience of its residents and enjoined people to make sacrifice in the interest of development.
