HON. BABAJIMI BENSON TAKES GOVERNANCE TO A NEW AND DYNAMIC LEVEL IN IKORODU DIVISION. | Shakiru Seidu. Have it in mind to serve and contribute to the growth of your immediate community, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun urges the youth of Ikorodu Division.

Indeed, Leadership they say is service. A leader is the one who knows the way, shows the way and leads the way. This played out on Wednesday 3rd of January, 2018 at Regal Hall & Events Centre, Olu-Odo, Igbogbo, where the astute and audacious federal lawmaker, Hon. Babajimi Benson convened all the six Council Chairmen in Ikorodu Division, the Councilors, Supervisors, Politicians and Party Leaders to adequately equip all on the essence of leadership.

The theme of the leadership training is 'Impacting the Electorate and Achieving Governance and Legislative Excellence'. This laudable programme is timely because there have been agitations from all corners of leadership failure and lacklustre performance in our system of governance, revealed by one of the participants from Ikorodu West LCDA.

In his welcome remarks, Hon. Babajimi Benson, MHR, affirmed his representation of over five million people of Ikorodu Division that is committed to ensuring that the electorate get the best from their elected representatives.

When one of the Governor's Advisory Committee members, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun received the mic, he went back to the memory lane of beginning his career since 55 years ago as a Community Developer. He applauded the audacity of purpose of Hon. Babajimi Benson and urged him to continue in that direction. His satisfaction confirms that greatness is not in the size but influence.

Basorun enjoined the Councils Chairmen of Ikorodu Division to remain committed and dedicated towards the development of their assigned areas. He further urged the youth to make haste but slowly. 'Some of you are in a hurry, have it in mind to serve and contribute to the growth of your immediate community,' Basorun added.

The iCARE Foundation of Hon. Babajimi Benson in partnership with the Catalyst, Olushola Lanre Coaching however engaged the participants in practical exercise to affirm their competency. In fact, no one was idle because everyone was eager to learn new things to enable them make possible change in their jurisdiction.

When speaking with Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine in a brief interview, the erudite legislator, Hon. Babajimi Benson (MHR) affirmed his decision in sourcing for the capable personnel in the person of the Catalyst Olushola Lanre to grill the leaders on effective leadership tips for success to maximize potentials, set goals and how to achieve them. Hon. Benson Insisted that there is necessity to optimize skills by the Chairmen and other elected Officers at various levels so as to enable them add value.

Hon Benson reiterated on the 4th position Ikorodu clinched in the last election and revealed that he's working assiduously to make Ikorodu emerge the 1st in the coming ones. 'I want to assure you that this Seminar will be a continuous process which was the reason why the social media practioners were fully engaged in the exercise,' he revealed.

'The occasion was the first of its kind, this exemplify the determinant factor of a true and visionary leader, said by Mr Bayo Oteju. 'Hon. Babajimi Benson has satisfied this condition in several laudable programmes he innitated for the betterment of the people of Ikorodu Division,' he added.

Our world would have been a better place if our leaders could be strategic enough so as to properly and effectively drive our economy, governance and all human endeavours, the Vice Chairman, Ijede LCDA, Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo explained this while speaking with MegaXpression Magazine.

Among those that participated in the Seminar were the six Councils Chairmen of Ikorodu Division, (Ikorodu LG, Igbogbo/Baiyeku, Imota, Ijede, Ikorodu North and Ikorodu West LCDAs), Vice Chairmen, Executive and legislative Arms in all the Six Councils.

GAC member  Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Party leader, Chief Adenrele Olowu, The Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon SOB Agunbiade, representative of Ikorodu Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Nurudeen Sholaja  were all present as the guests of Honour.
