IKORODU LGEA SIGNS MoU WITH PERFORMANCE FACT PARTNERSHIP, AGREES TO TRAIN THE TRAINERS IN IKORODU DIVISION. Shakiru Seidu.
Local Government Education Authority, LGEA, Ikorodu, has resolved to build a sustainable and impactful partnership with Stakeholders in the education sector. The Authority, under the leadership of the Education Secretary (ES), Hon Austen Taiwo Oduloye, has officially cemented and formalized a partnership with the Performance Fact (Nig.) LTD Partnership, an organization that is aimed at transforming educational effectiveness and outcomes for Nigerian students. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties took place at NUT Staff Hall Ikorodu, on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
MegaXpression Magazine reports that the partnership is envisaged to facilitate a healthy exchange of professional experiences which have the potency to inform respective program interventions. Equally worth mentioning is the fact that it will strengthen the collective supervisory roles of the conduct of teachers. Not only would this strengthen LGEA's visibility and recognition in the Local Government but also enhance the possibilities to further access donor support and build beneficial partnership with sector players.
While addressing the audience, the E.S., Hon Austen Taiwo Oduloye, said his love for education is what he sees as real love for humanity, as well naked love for one’s nation. "This is because when the citizenry is well grounded in sound education, the people who are saddled with the responsibility of governing them will have fewer problems in their hands. The truth which is hard to believe is that sound education will train your mind to think right and if you think right, you will definitely act right because your actions are manifestations of your thinking.
"We need to separate being educated from being literate because the two concepts are different from each other. It is not all literate people that are educated but all educated people are literate. What is fundamental is that the crime that merely literate people can commit are not likely to be committed by well educated people because of the contents of their thinking faculties." He said.
Oduloye further explained that what PERFORMANCE FACT (NIG.) LIMITED is about to do, in simple terms, is to 'Train the Trainer', Headteachers, Assistant Head-Teachers and Classroom Teachers. Aside from training the trainers, the pupils will also be trained.
"What a great privilege! This kind of training goes beyond training the school managers how to teach their various subjects. No, it is much more. It will make them better thinkers and they will pass over this attribute of logical reasoning and thinking to their pupils. It is this kind of education that makes people to see dignity in labour instead of being slothful." Oduloye said.
He therefore enjoined teachers to grab this opportunity with both hands and apply all they learn at each point of their trainings at every opportunity they have in teaching both within and outside the classroom.
The Performance Fact Partnership Team in attendance includes, Mr Mutiu Fagbayi from USA, Mr Olatunji Adefuye, former Board Secretary, SUBRB, Alhaja Khadijat G. Dawodu, former Chairman, SUBEB and Mrs Tosin Babasanya.
Also the Ikorodu LGEA members featured at the signing of the memorandum include the Executive Secretary, Hon Taiwo Oduloye, Mr Fasaki O.K., Mrs Odunsi F.A., Mrs Omoge A.A., Mr Salami T.H., Mr Olofintila L., Mrs Akingbade K.A., Mr M. Jenrade, Comr. Fakolade Oluwafemi, Comr Rasheed L.A., Mrs Jemenu Oseyemi, Mr Olusanya Stephen and Mrs Sobowale Kafilat. While Mr Ajao Abayomi represented the SUBEB Chairman and Mr Yekeen Oladele anchored the whole process.
