The Ayangburen of Ikorodu and the Paramount Ruler of Ikorodu Division, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, yesterday advocated love and peaceful co-existence among all residents of Ikorodu Division, irrespective of their faith, saying it is important for progress and development of the Division.

The King, who spoke at his Palace, venue of the 2018 Royal Christmas Carols, noted that it is the common bond of humanity such as common blood, common markets and other such bonds that binds all together as a people.

Wishing all a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year 2019, Oba Shotobi, who expressed joy for being able to be part of this year’s Christmas Carols, called for peaceful co-existence among adherents of the various faiths in Ikorodu Division, saying it is only through such co-existence that the Division would make progress.

Referring to an eloquent preaching from the Bible, The Rt Revd S.O. Osundina of Methodist Church, Ita-Elewa, enjoined all to have a fear of God and love one another. He prayed for the King, wife and the entire community to be peaceful and progress.

The Bishop said the season of Christmas is a time for all to reflect on all that God has done in our lives and give glory to Him as well as pray for more of His blessing in the coming year.

According to him, “The mood that you are in during the Christmas season is very different from all other festivals on Earth. Apart from being a time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, Christmas is a time when we reflect on those who have not and share with them the joy of the season. For me, it is a season when I wish to take out time to give glory to God, to dance and be happy. It is a time of sharing and thanking God that He has kept us thus far. It is time to reflect on all that God has done in our lives in the passing year and pray that He will help us even more in the New Year”.

Wishing all residents of Ikorodu Division a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year, the Agbaakin of Ikorodu land, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, while speaking with MegaXpression Magazine enjoined all to live in peace and harmony in spite of people's diverse faiths, saying it is the only guarantee for progress of Ikorodu Division.

Among those present at the ceremony were Christian religious clerics such as the Bishop of Diocese of Ikorodu, The Rt Revd S.O. Osundina, Very Revd S.O. Adegbola, Director of music, Soji Onafowokan, Esq, and Chief Organist, Segun Osineye. Also from Lagos are Arch Bishop Kumolu Solomon, Bishop Dr J.A. Akindele, Bishop Dr Titus T.
